Easiest maintenance provider?

I’ve been on the Monj website but not having much luck, when I’ve tried to do an online eligibility test with one of the providers despite saying you could have a joining BMI of 20 (aiming for 22) it said it couldn’t prescribe me MJ.

I’m looking for a provider that’s a bit more financially competitive than my current (Voy), but I don’t want them informing my GP and I don’t want to have to do video consultations (which Ouskh wants by the look of). Perhaps this is asking too much but this is what Voy gives me currently.

Ive been on MJ for a while now and I just really like the ease of Voy and how unobtrusive it is, are there other providers out there like it that are cheaper?!

So what is your BMI if you’re being rejected because minimum is 20?

Walksspecial · 29/03/2026 10:26

Why don’t you want them informing your GP

I think you have started posts before and the consensus is - you really should not be on WLI

mjmain · 29/03/2026 10:27

I put in my goal weight which gave a BMI of 22.3 (that’s not actually my BMI just yet, that’s where I hope to get to! Wanting to start planning maintenance path now) but it said it couldn’t prescribe me MJ. Despite the fact they say they would accept 20 (this was Lotus pharmacy I think it was called)

@Walksspecial I don’t know what you’re talking about, this is the first time I’ve asked about this, I have been on MJ with Voy for months and haven’t had to think about how other providers work, I don’t really want to have to justify myself to you as I said I like the unobtrusive nature of Voy; I’m a healthy BMI now, I don’t have any weight related health issues, I’ve tolerated it well, I don’t need my GP to know. I just want to know if there is a provider that has a service similar to Voy but cheaper.

If you don’t want to help me that’s fine, but not sure why you’re probing me, or suggesting I’m not eligible for WLI?

I’m really not, I’m reporting your posts as they’re entirely unhelpful and I’m not who you think I am. I just want help with maintenance.

Some maintenence providers will prescribe down to 20 or 19.5 with oushk who I am with, but the joining bmi needs to be higher. Pharmulous are a good maintenance prescriber so I would look at them. I'm bmi 22 and they said they would accept me, along with nulife but I'm just staying with oushk.
Not sure why you are concerned with video consultation, they last a few mins if that and are super easy.

mjmain · 29/03/2026 10:34

@Mysticmaiden honestly I’m just being lazy! I don’t really understand why I’d need a video consultation for something I’ve been on for months and didn’t need to do to start.

OP posts:
mjmain · 29/03/2026 10:38

@Mysticmaiden but you’re right I’m being daft, I will prioritise money savings over a video consultation!

The obvious thing to do is to switch to a maintenance provider before your BMI gets below their threshold, if you are not already at your target BMI?

Swift Doctor or Pharmulous are the two that I know of that are usually helpful in this area. I currently use Swift Doctor and they have been fine so far with me, although my BMI was 27 ish when I started using them.

@Mysticmaiden honestly I’m just being lazy! I don’t really understand why I’d need a video consultation for something I’ve been on for months and didn’t need to do to start.

The regulations have changed so it needs to be more strict. Lots providers are moving onto video consultations now, oushk was just the leader of them. The weight verification is just to check your ID and weight on the scales and then they ask you to stand against a door to check your height and its all done. You can ask questions if need to and its a 6 monthly check. I screenshot my height from nhs app and uploaded it to my online account. Their maintenance programme is all online now so just a form to join, it used to be a video consultation process but changed last October.
I'm bmi 22 now and been with oushk since jan 25 but started maintenance in July 25 at bmi 25.5 just a few lbs away from my goal. I since decided to lose more weight. I get a £25 per pen maintenance discount with oushk and they often do 1p delivery offers.
Pharmulous wanted me to do a maintenance consultation but only offered Mon to Fri appointments, with none for weekends or Bank hols and I work those days so I'm staying with oushk for now amd I've just bought 2 pens last month so I might switch later. Pharmulous do offer a plan where you can come off the injections and for upto a year get prescribed for free if you want to go back on. Many won't let you rejoin at all at a lower bmi. Oushk offer this plan long term but charge £15 a month for it

mjmain · 29/03/2026 10:51

Thanks both I appreciate the advice. My BMI is currently 23, I’ve got about 7lb to go to ‘target’ on 5mg but planning to titrate down to 2.5mg as I wasn’t on 5mg for long so hoping 2.5mg will be fine for maintenance (maybe a bit of spacing as well). I don’t want the financial investment of having to buy monthly pens, but equally don’t want to struggle to re order if my BMI (hopefully!) remains under 25.

I’m with Lotus, joined at bmi somewhere around 24 and now around 20 - no issues, bought 2 pen bundle about a week ago to avoid April new pens for extra time…

mjmain · 29/03/2026 11:59

@putthehamsterbackinitscage yeah I don’t understand why it rejected me, filled out the online consultation with a BMI of 22.3 and it just said it couldn’t prescribe to me, didn’t state why though.

Oh hang on, I just did it again and I think I answered MJ to ‘do you have allergies to the following medications’ when I thought I was selecting which medication are you on….

Declaring an allergy to WLI seems a reasonable reason to reject 🙈🙈

I’m the Oushk and plan to stay there as long as they stay lower/middle of the pack price wise, as I like their maintenance offerings. And I’m lazy and don’t want to move unless it’s really worth it. But I’m fine with my GP knowing, video consults etc. Could you message the various maintenance providers and ask what their criteria is?

mjmain · 29/03/2026 12:13

@Woo383040 funnily enough I contacted Swift Dr on a pp’s recommendation via WhatsApp and they came back just now to say they do contact GP. Then they asked me why I didn’t want to inform them, I explained and they said they could prescribe without informing my GP so long as I consent to them seeing my medical records (not quite sure how they access?!) but I’m happy with that.

And a good service for a Sunday!?

That’s impressive. I may have to give them a look. What I want may be different to you. But a flexible supplier who responds so quickly too, is definitely worth considering. I noticed that Swift Doctor and Pharmulous are often recommended.

mjmain · 29/03/2026 12:33

Yeah, I asked about frequency of ordering and they said up to 8 weeks is fine for reordering, but if you’re maintaining above 2.5mg you would have to restart 2.5mg after 8 weeks. If you’re only ordering 2.5mg the 8 week rule doesn’t matter.

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 29/03/2026 12:47

They can access your NHS summary care record if you give them permission, which wouldn’t need to be via your GP.

mjmain · 29/03/2026 14:36

Perfect thanks. Thanks for all the help all, I have a maintenance plan now, it’s been playing on my mind for a bit so I’m relieved. I’m going to switch to Swift Dr later this month and I’m hoping by the middle of the year to be maintaining on 2.5mg a week, and potentially even try 1.25mg a week by ordering a pen every 8 weeks, that makes it only £75 a month, but we’ll see how I go!
