Mounjaro/similar BMI of 25

Has anyone used Mounjaro or similar with a BMI of 25? Background is I’m 33 and have always been naturally slim, thinner than I wanted to be, I was always trying to put weight on. I usually sat around 9.5 stone but I’ve now put on over 2 stone in less a year with no signs of slowing down. I’ve put on 9lbs in the past two months alone. This coincides with starting antidepressants and the most intense food noise I’ve ever felt in my life. I don’t want to change my antidepressants as they are currently working but I also don’t want to continue putting weight as that is also affecting my mental health. I am an active person - I go to the gym 3 times per week and have a PT plus do two high intensity classes and walk 10k+ steps per day. I just need the food noise to stop - even when I’m eating I’ll be thinking about what I can eat next.

Yes plenty will have, and a few pharmacies are now offering it. Med express and voy I think. But you need to email them.

Have you tried switching to volume eating? So high fibre, high protein, lots of veg, plenty of fluids, home made or good quality soups are very filling, as are eggs. Keep away from UPFs, high carb and high fat foods (the combo of fat and sugar or salt is deadly for triggering overeating). I think its basically a GLP mimicking diet which you can google for more details.

I think this is what many people who have lost weight and kept it off will end up doing, possibly alongside fasting or time restricted eating, building muscle with exercise to increase or maintain metabolism and finally, don’t buy trigger foods or have them in your house! If you have to buy treats for family, by ones you don’t like.

good luck

There is no such thing as a glp mimicking diet 😂

Yes I have. BMI 25.1 (first time my BMI went above healthy and freaked me out) lost about 10lb in 8 weeks which I think is pretty steady going, but the key thing is the way it’s just shutting out all the cravings so it just doesn’t feel like work, it’s freeing up my mind to focus on healthier choices. Don’t even fancy alcohol much these days, and it’s been a silver bullet to my IBS. I plan to microdose, forever if I have to!

(And like you I’m an active person, play a sport couple of times a week, Pilates 4-5 times a week, strength training. I cook from scratch, I just have a sweet tooth and struggle with cravings!)

One thing I would say is it doesn’t kill the food noise for everyone. I’ve lost weight on it but it hasn’t changed the food noise, I just can’t eat as big a portions.

gina9757 · 25/03/2026 18:10

Yes I will say it hasn’t completely killed the food noise for me (but I’ve only stayed on 2.5mg) but it’s definitely reduced it, and like a pp I get fuller quicker, so it takes much less to satiate either my hunger or a craving!

I also feel much more in control and able to change my mind if I’m about to make a bad choice! Just not as much as a slave to my cravings.

Can you recommend a supplier at this bmi?

Have you thought about changing antidepressant? Some are more weight-neutral than others so that might be an option.
