Following on from previous threads. There seems to have been a shift in the market and perhaps prescribing off licence.

Bmi 28 myself, having lost 10lbs to get below 30 bmi since 1st Jan , stalled a bit

It’s definitely off licence prescribing, the information after you complete the online form with a BMI of 25 says:

“As your BMI is below the licensed threshold, our clinicians may prescribe you the two lowest doses of Mounjaro or Wegovy off-label. They will prescribe only if they think it's safe and appropriate for you.”

Then there’s a lot more info about what off licence prescribing is and what it means, which you need to consent to. They also state that they need to do a video consult before prescribing.

Thanks for sharing, interesting the directions MedExp, and last month Voy, are going with off label prescribing.

Wonder what the other providers have got up their sleeves/in the pipelines!

does that mean you can’t increase dose above 5mg? Is medexpress generally well-priced?

I know others will disagree but I think this is a positive thing. I spent fair bit of time in the 25-30 BMI range and could never get below 25 using traditional dieting. In reality my BMI just crept up and up and up until it was over 30.

A 2.5mg dose would have resolved that and allowed me to maintain in the safe BMI range. Even a 1.25mg dose may have done it too.

This is what happened to me too. Lost and regained that same stone a number of times! I think it must be quite common.

That said, as I understand it there's not much research out there for WLI usage in people in this bracket, so I don't know if I'd want to take that step or not. But... can't deny it would've helped me.

Suppose after their 1st pen they can just go somewhere else and show proof they are on it, and get higher each time. , most dont ask how long you have been on it for, some do but not all.

Solidarity. And yes there are (rare) potential serious problems, but 6 months on a low dose of MJ and you'd be in the best shape for ages.

I'm off it now and happily sat at 23 BMI feeling so much better. BP down. Joints much improved.

Anhedonia was my side effect, but I would do it again. Hopefully I don't need to!

Off label prescriptions basically means they can keep growing their revenue. WLIs are not cheap and we know some struggle with the affordability aspects.

If they can tap into the sector where people maybe just into the overweight category or those people who are struggling to shift the weight they put on a Christmas or on holiday or even previous MJ users who didn’t want to sign up to maintenance plans then that will be good news for pharmacies.
