First 2 weeks

I did already post this in the Feb starters, but hopefully some Mounjaro veterans will come along with advice!

It probably is fine and purely down to the difference in consumed calories but I took my 2nd 2.5mg dose on Friday gone. I've lost 9lb since starting less than two weeks ago. I never thought I'd say this about weight loss, but I just had a mild panic that it's coming off too quickly.
I'm short though, 5ft. I'm now eating 1000 cals less per day than I was pre-mounjaro. I'm averaging 1300-1500 cals per day.

I am reasonably active. I'm on my feet all day at work, I have dogs and I swim - although I have been doing shorter swims because I've been a bit lower in energy.

The appetite suppression happened instantly. I have been hungry at times, but I'm full very quickly. Struggle to eat more than 300-400 calories at a time now. Little and often is working for me.
I'm trying to prioritise protein and fibre and trying to drink 2l fluids per day (water and tea mostly).

If you can create a large calorie deficit at the start, due to high starting weight and a suppressed appetite then the weight will come off in higher numbers than other people might experience.

I lost 11lbs in the first two weeks, as I was 22st when I started and had immediate appetite suppression. I was easily managing a 1000 calorie deficit each day, as my TDEE was around 2400 and I was eating around 1200 or so cals a day.

It won't be all actual body fat that is lost, it will be water and glycogen stores as well. The rate of loss will start to slow down, as it becomes just body fat that you are losing, and then later on as your TDEE reduces due to your weight reducing.

It's normal to have rapid weight loss at the start of any 'diet', usually due to the change in eating habits meaning you get rid of water that you have been retaining - carby/salty foods take more water to digest, when you start eating more healthily then you don't need as much water and can get rid of it. It should slow down to a more manageable level soon.

Yeah, that's it. The first 2-3 days I only ate 1000 cals or under, since then I've managed a bit more. My TDEE for maintaining my weight is about 2200+ cals.

Was just a bit of a shock!

Faster initial losses are common especially if you respond strongly to the medication.

If your deficit is 1000 calories, you should settle into a loss of about a kilo a week.

Sounds like you’re doing things just right with focus on protein and fibre. Make sure to drink plenty because thirst can be suppressed along with appetite.

Be strategic about fueling exercise, since it really matters for retaining muscle. Morning/afternoon snack? Eat regular amounts at regular times so your body learns when to expect food.

Enjoy feeling lighter and healthier! Good luck!

PS I was also blown away by finding that this actually does just work. Crazy. All those years of struggle and then a tiny injection and it just works!

I know! I think I was so set on it going to be another struggle that I almost don't believe the scales 😂 I can feel and see it though. It just feels too good to be true.

My average weight has been under target for a year now and I still think I’m going to wake up obese every morning. It’s almost more of an adjustment for the brain than the body.
