Cortisol treatments

Cortisol treatments- Do they work? They keep popping up on my social media. I'm nearing 60, at tail end of menopausal symptoms. I've been left with a 2 stone weight gain, puffy face, neck and feel permanently tired. I eat reasonably well, only drink moderately, exercise daily, I have a physical FT job, dog walk daily and exercise classes 2-3 times a week totalling 3-5 hours. I can't shift it. I tried a 'detox' tea but haven't seen any real changes. I'm tempted to try one of the hormonal treatments advertised. Anyone used them and are they just 'snake oil' ?

Happy Mammoth is one, but there seems to be quite a few..a quick look on Amazon shows a variety..reviews are mixed.

I think your “snake oil” instinct might not be far off.

for example ingredients like ashwagandha might help a little with meno symptoms for some people, but they are not really shown to change cortisol in a way that causes weightloss. wild yam sounds very “hormonal”, but they don’t actually convert into progesterone unless processed in a lab.

I imagine they are safe enough to try (maybe check with your gp first if you are on HRT) , but I wouldn’t have high expectations.

It’s not a treatment op, it’s just an over ghe counter supplement.

are you sure you have high cortisol? If so then this is not going to fix it. If not, then You need to go to your doctors and have a blood test, they will then medicate if so or investigate further, to the cause;

if you don’t have a cortisol problem and it’s just weight gain then these supplements aren’t going to fix it either, they won’t make your tummy miraculously flat.

so if you think you’ve maybe a cortisol issue, go and see your gp. If deep down you know it’s just weight gain, then I’m afraid diet is the only answer.

don’t waste your money on some supplement for an issue you don’t even know for sure if you have,
