Email I’ve just received from Simple online. 😢

We are writing to let you know that there will be a manufacturer's change to the Mounjaro® (tirzepatide) KwikPen® expected from the beginning of April 2026. Please be reassured that the medication, dosage and effectiveness of Mounjaro® (tirzepatide) remain exactly the same. Only the pen device has been updated.
During this transition, we will endeavour to provide the current KwikPen® to our existing patients who want it for as long as possible and whilst stocks last. Continuity of care is important to us, and we remain committed to supporting you through this change and on your weight loss journey.

Why the Change?
The Mounjaro® (tirzepatide) KwikPen® device has been modified to reduce leftover medicine and make it easier to track that the final dose has been administered, indicating that the pen is ready to be discarded. The modified KwikPen® works the same way as the initial device.
The initial and modified Mounjaro® KwikPens® are both disposable multi-dose single-patient-use pre-filled pens, containing the volume of solution necessary for priming before each injection and the delivery of 4 fixed 0.6mL doses (one dose administered weekly).

What is Changing?
The modified KwikPen® works in the same way as the initial device, but there are a few visual and structural updates.
Plunger Position: The plunger sits further down in the cartridge when the pen is unused.
Extended Plunger: A new internal component has been added behind the plunger, extending its length. This is shown in the Mounjaro KwikPen Guide to Parts section in the Instructions For Use (IFU).
Remaining Medicine: After the fourth dose, the plunger will be near the end of the pen, clearly indicating the pen is ready to be discarded.

My provider has been asked this morning why other pharmacies have shared this information on the change and they haven't and their reply was -

The information is still under strict NDA rules but unfortunately some other companies may have breached this. As soon as we are able to share, we will.

Several pharmacies are either breaking NDA or someone is uninformed/fibbing.......🤔🙈

Looks like Simple is expecting (hoping for?) another order rush. Their wording is imo is encouraging panic buying again.

What happens to the drug after 30 days? Does it not work well? I am thinking of extending to every 10 days as well as using the golden dose. Any thoughts?

It doesn’t look like the golden dose will be available soon. Plenty of people seem to use it past 30 days but it’s a personal risk assessment, really, the guidelines suggest you use it and discard after that date.

SilenceInside · 07/03/2026 19:01

The two issues with using the medication past the 30 days are the medication degrading then being less effective, and also contamination causing bacterial growth. The manufacturer can only guarantee neither of those things happening for 30 days. Clearly, that doesn’t happen immediately and may not happen at all for a fair while, but those are the possible risks you’d be taking.

Do they really think anyone will believe this is why they're removing the golden dose. It's obvious they're doing it so we need to reorder every 4 weeks rather than 5.
