I lost 6 stone last year. I now run every other day. I came off MJ when the prices went up, but have found since Christmas my eating has been bad again. I’ve put 4lbs on, which I know isn’t a massive amount but I just need to stop the food noise. Ordered a 2.5 and injected last Thursday, it might as well have been water. I’m panicking now! I never went above 5 mg last year and it worked wonderfully, I was hoping for the same to keep costs down but now I’m worried

This is a similar thing I’m going through too. The first time round I was on Mounjaro 5mg and it was fantastic and I had significant weight loss, but then the price went up. Fast forward almost two years, after a few health issues the weight crept back on, so about a month ago I started Wegovy (via Juniper) because it was cheaper than Mounjaro. They made me start at 2.5mg, which has honestly been completely useless. I’ve lost very little, and that’s while going to the gym multiple times a week as well.

My food noise is still kind of there, and then, unfortunately, at the beginning of week three I came down with a chest infection and an asthma flare. I ended up on steroids and antibiotics for seven days and, guess what… I actually gained weight while on Wegovy. Apparently steroids can cause water retention, so that explains some of it.

I’m about to move up to 5mg of Wegovy now, so I’ll see how that goes. If it doesn’t work, I will have to consider going back to Mounjaro.

Most people who go back on after a break have to go upto at least the same or next higher dose than before for it to work due to tolerance. It will also build up and a week of 2.5mg is a very low dose. You could inject every 5 days to increase the dose and use up all of the extra dose as a bridge between your next pen.

I don’t know it is subjective.

i have a million people tell me it rids them off lymphoedema and been called silly when I’ve said surely the stage/severity of the lymphoedema plays a part.

in the past 5 years it has never gotten rid of a swollen foot for me but to other people they are all but cured.

It is a bit like the whole you are healthy diabetic in remission, yet the person opposite you may prove that is smoke. It’s why we have medical professionals who don’t believe in remission of type 2 diabetes and these is nothing you can do.

Sorry, what does this mean?

I’ve found this too. First time round my biggest loss was at the beginning on the first dose.
I too haven’t got a lot to lose - 6lb - but just want to keep on top of it. I’ve lost nothing on the lowest dose. I’m now on the second dose, can feel it in my system, but don’t seem to be losing on the scales yet.

Are the side effects at least reduced when going back on it?

PinkIcedRing · 10/03/2026 20:27

I’m interested in this. I came off it due to cost just before Christmas, went back on again in January but it hasn’t touched the sides this time around, despite it working fantastically well from 2.5mg previously. Have resigned myself to the fact I’ll have to go up to at least 7.5mg this time to see any effect.
