Contacting doctors?

Hello, my partner wants to try weight loss injections (he has about 4 stone to lose) but when he’s started applying through Med Express it is saying they need to contact his doctors surgery. Is that normal for all providers?

they just inform them. The surgery doesn’t do anything with it, but the information needs to be there in case of any emergency. It’s there to cover everyone, it’s a prescription medicine. What’s your issue with them informing the GP?

SilenceInside · 12/02/2026 20:19

Yes, it’s pretty standard for pharmacies. Either they will ask permission to contact his GP or they will generate a letter which you can print off and send to your GP.

It is good practice and it is something that pharmacies are strongly advised to do as part of their due diligence.

Is there an issue with contacting his GP?

No issue with it, was just interested in if it was standard practice

I’ve bought pens from five or six different suppliers. Only two pens show up on my medication records.
