First day on the starter dose of 1.5mg. I paid $149 for 30 days supply with a coupon from the manufacturer. My insurance won’t cover it yet (though I am working on that) and it’s $1500 without it or the coupon.

I didn’t wait for the tablet to come out, I was thinking about injections for a while and when I finally asked my prescriber, they suggested the tablets. I thought it would be easier to stop them if I had bad side effects as they are taken daily.

You have to take it with a small amount of water and leave it half an hour (minimum) before ingesting anything else. I woke up early so took it then and went back to sleep.

Now I don’t know if it’s a placebo effect or it’s actually the pill but so far it is working perfectly and how I had hoped it was Fingers crossed for another great day tomorrow.

I’m sure it will be available in the UK soon enough so AMA. I’ll update the thread as I go along.

That's interesting. Do you know why the starter dose is higher than for the injection?

Have studies shown the same success rate as with the injections?

I don't think the tablets are available in the UK yet.

Good luck & thank you for sharing.

The stomach is quite bad at absorbing a GLP-1, hence the starting dose. I think the idea is you go up every month if tolerated. 4mg is the next dose and the highest is 25mg. Oral tablet shows slightly less success rate than the injections, but we’re talking a few pounds over months.

I know it’s only the first day but bloody hell, is this what it’s like to feel “normal” and not think about, let alone eat, food then I’m in!

Ah, so higher dose because only a fraction will be absorbed. Sounds like you already notice an effect which is amazing.

I take the injection and noticed an effect on day 1 too.

The most noticeable difference is that I haven’t reached for a Diet Pepsi all day!

The starter dose on injections is 2.5mg - how is this higher?

That’s Mounjaro not Wegovy. They have different measures. 0.25 is Wegovy starting point

It’s tablets not injections and it’s wegovy not mounjaro.

op, thanks for starting I think a. Lot of us interested in this, will be great to understand how you find it.

How does it compare price-wise to the injections? $1500 is an insane about of money. Are you potentially looking at paying that much from next month? Is there a precedent for insurance paying for it? (I’m assuming you’re in the US)

Beekman · 09/02/2026 13:21

The list price is actually $500 cheaper than injectable Wegovy but no one pays that as either their insurance covers it or they use coupons from the manufacturer. As the tablet is new, insurance companies are not covering it right now but I expect this will change and it will then be $25 a month (so they claim). I will not be paying $2k a month and will switch to injections if I have to.

Day 2 for me and am a little bloated but I’m due on so it could be that rather than the Wegovy. Early days, though.

@Beekman Can I ask what these coupons are that the manufacturer offer? They seem to give you about $1350 off the out of pocket price of $1500, so I was wondering why the manufacturer gives such a massive discount, and if it's for the first order only?

Beekman · 16/02/2026 14:08

All meds have a “list price” which no one actually pays. It’s an opening offer from them. Either your insurance covers it or you get coupons to bring the price down. The manufacturers offer coupons encourage people to get on it. The Wegovy coupon is for 2 prescriptions at $149 then I believe $299 after that. There are be other coupons with a better deal in the long run (TrumpRX for one)

Anyway, I came on to say I lost over 6lbs in my first week on the tablets, which is over 10% of my total goal. I know it will be water and glycogen but I am very happy with that. Appetite suppression is high, side effects minimal and I am finding not obsessing about food very enjoyable, if not a little weird after all these decades where it’s been a huge part of my life. Roll on week 2!
