Changing suppliers every month

Hello all I have just ordered my first dose of MJ and will be starting this week hopefully.

I am using monj to compare prices and really want to keep costs as low as I can during this journey. I bought from Pharmica. My question is when it comes to next month and I want to go to a 5mg (perhaps, will see how 2.5 goes) will Pharmica send me a prescription so I can take to another supplier that's cheaper? I can't find anywhere where it says they actually send you a prescription.

Thanks and sorry if this has been asked before a million times! If you could share your best ways to save money on MJ that would be great

I don’t think they send you a prescription. They will send you an email reminder that you need to buy your next pen and then you can either order the same dose or go up to the next dose. Or you can shop around and use a different pharmacy. I’ve always stayed with one pharmacy because I don’t like the stress of changing.

catswhisker1 · 08/02/2026 17:20

Ah ok thanks! If I want to change suppliers will the email suffice to take to a new place?

To add I am mid 50s and have three stone to lose. Im also very short. I want to do this but just worried about the costs shooting up so need to shop around to get the lowest cost I can

I’ve just changed pharmacy for the first time. I had to fill in the questionnaire as though it was the first time and provide a photo of my last prescription. It took me about ten minutes and saved me £55 compared with the cost of staying with my first pharmacy

i am on my second time of starting on MJ. When I was on it before I stayed with the same pharmacy, but that was before price hikes - I just can’t justify not changing.

No, you don’t take a prescription from one supplier to the next. You just apply to the new supplier as a new customer and they will make their own prescribing decision. If you are already taking Mounjaro you state that on their consultation form, then they will ask you for proof of your previous prescription, which is simply a photo of the box your medication came in showing the prescription label with your name, the date, the medication and the dosage.

OneThirdLess · 08/02/2026 17:24

You will get a prescription label on the box you receive with your pen. Most pharmacies accept a picture of that when you're a new customer with them. There's generally an option to upload evidence of previous prescription - if not, just do the online form, buy what you need and they'll email you and ask for it.

catswhisker1 · 08/02/2026 17:26

Ah brilliant thanks that was my missing piece of information, a photo of the box!

Is this also the method when you want to go up a dose? So say from 2.5 to 5? Thanks again, MJ novice here 😊

I selected a 5mg pen, uploaded evidence of my current 2.5 pen. :)

SilenceInside · 08/02/2026 17:38

When you fill out the form for a new supplier and say you are on Mounjaro they will ask what dose. They will then ask you what dose you want, you can usually choose the same dose, or one higher or lower if applicable.

janedoe26 · 08/02/2026 19:21

Always a photo of the box with the signed prescription label showing pen strength, date, your name and prescribed signature. I have kept every box I’ve had flattened down but you could just save photos. No limits to moving around so long as you have evidence, not too big a gap and meet the weight represent of new prescriber to continue (not the one to start - typically still above 21-23 bmi for most though some will be lower or higher or case by case.)

MeridaBrave · 08/02/2026 19:23

Once you are under a BMI of 27 it becomes harder to move. I moved once and now it’s too much of a hassle.

JMSA · 08/02/2026 19:26

Until recently, I changed suppliers with each new pen. I went with whoever was cheapest on Monj. It was a pain in the hoop to have to send in new pics, fill in the forms, etc. But for me it was worth it for the savings.
Suppliers are missing a trick, in my opinion. It’s mad that they don’t do more to get repeat custom.

SilenceInside · 08/02/2026 19:27

I’ve changed pharmacy with a BMI under 27, and it was fine, no more or less hassle than when my BMI was over 27 or over 30.

dove76 · 08/02/2026 19:29

You may have to contact a few pharmacies. I tried swooping due to price hike and was refused even though I'd been on it 8 months, was on 7.5mg and my BMI was 27.8. I gave up in the end, stayed with the same provider and switched to Wegovy. Couldn't do with the hassle. Still loosing.

SilenceInside · 08/02/2026 19:40

There’s a fairly long list of pharmacies on the Monj website who will take on new customers at lower BMIs, plenty to choose from:

https://monj.co.uk/mounjaro-maintenance-pharmacies/

They’re not on that list, but I just swapped to Lloyds with a BMI of 25 ish, and had no issue.

Yes thats the way I see it. I want to view it as an investment in myself but also need to get the cheapest price. I did the assessment (videos and photos etc) for my first pen today and it was horrible to let it all hang out in a video but if it saves me 50 quid Im up for it 😅

My BMI is now 22. And I only want to order every second month. Not worth hassle of changing.

SilenceInside · 08/02/2026 21:58

A BMI of 22 and only ordering every other month is a bit of a different proposition to just changing pharmacies each month with a BMI under 27.

True yes. But my BMI went from 27 to 22 in around 3 months. I changed once when my BMI got to 25, as I realised changing after that could be a challenge.

My current supplier allows 8 weeks between orders and is competitively priced. So yes there will always be offers out there but not worth it for me now.
