I keep toying with the idea of taking them, I really ideally only want to lose two stone but the side effects terrify me. Looking to see other people’s experiences.

Read the threads on here of people chatting about their experiences op. There’s 100’s.

I have lost 28lbs since November 16 2025 going from 215 to 187lbs with no major side-effects. I do recall that during the first week or two I felt physically weaker from consuming less calories (previously I was eating a lot of calories) and with this was also nausea from trying to eat foods that I did not find appealing or trying to eat when I was not hungry. Overall, it has been well worth it. My quality of life, physical health, and mental well-being has improved drastically.

I had about 1.5 stone to get to top of healthy BMI then a further 1.5 stone to get to a good BMI for my frame. I am only 5ft4 and really small build. I have mainly stuck to 2.5mg and lost 31lb since 1st November. 11lb to go now.

Side effects have been nausea early on and extreme tiredness in 1st week or so. I dont experience any side effects at all at the moment. I did go up half a dose for a few weeks but then got sinus infection and went back down as got nausea again. Been fine since and considering staying at 2.5mg now, am losing just over 1lb per week currently which is probably sensible at this stage.

If you're considering starting soon it might be worth joining the February Starter thread. So much useful info on those threads, or even have a look at the slightly earlier months to see peoples experiences.

I would also recommend checking your TDEE on the TDEE calculator website, then work out what deficit you want. If you only have 2 stone to lose then potentially you arent in obese category though so may not get prescribed unless you have a specific health condition.

SilenceInside · 03/02/2026 20:49

Are you obese as in BMI over 30, or over 27 for certain ethnicities? The NHS BMI calculator will tell you. If not, then you wouldn’t meet the prescription criteria for WLI anyway and the issue of side effects is moot.

If you do qualify, there’s no need to terrified of side effects. If you get any, and most people don’t, they are usually mild, manageable and short lived. The serious side effects are very rare, so very unlikely to happen. If you want to absolutely avoid getting a rare but serious side effect from a medication then simply don’t take that particular medication.

I lost 7 stone since Jan 25 best decision ever

Icanthinkformyselfthanks · 04/02/2026 00:59

@Daisysandviolets , if you only have two stone to lose are you sure you’d be eligible for WLI’s? I’ve lost 80lbs which took me 14 months, I had no dreadful side effects a bit of being cold and tired and my hair is nowhere near as glorious as it once was but I don’t have a single regret.
I’ve been a member of many GPL-1 agonist groups and my observation is that those who lose very quickly seem to have the most side effects, those of us who are still struggling a bit have less. Given that these drugs were created to help people with type 2 diabetes I wonder if for those who have underlying insulin resistance the drugs normalise their metabolism but for those who don’t have insulin issues the drugs might upset their body leading to side effects. Not a lot of science there just conjecture. Essentially you won’t know until you try.

HappyWineDay · 04/02/2026 06:49

Which side effects terrify you?

cobrapaw · 04/02/2026 06:52

I have lost 19lb since the 7th December 2025. The only side effect for me has been a headache and mild nausea for 48hrs after jabbing.

ShottaSherrif · 04/02/2026 07:03

I used them to shift around 10kg over four months. Not overweight but a BMI of 24 and a pesky stone I’d not managed to shift for 3.5 years since having my son. It’s been a great experience. The only side effects - and I’m not sure it’s 100% linked because I’ve also got low vitamin D and Iron, and in perimenopause - is that my hair has thinned. And sleep seemed a bit more disrupted than usual but again not sure if directly linked. I lost closer to 2 stone on the minimum dose, slowly and sustainably. BMI 20. I think it addresses insulin resistance and helped so much with sugar cravings. Felt good, bit tired in the first couple of weeks but otherwise fine.

Since stopping I’ve levels out at a few pounds heavier but all good. Weight trained and exercised throughout. BMI 21 and I can’t see myself gaining it again - I do think it’s different as a person who has been slim all my life until after my second child - my body is not fighting to get back to an obese set point.

OneThirdLess · 04/02/2026 07:44

I lost over 5 stone and had no side effects. I just steadily lost the weight. You can do things to avoid them - make sure you stay hydrated, eat healthy meals, avoid common triggers - but it's often just down to luck.

(well, it'll be down to your individual biology as much as anything, but since we're not at a point where we can analyse that, we may as well call it luck.)

HappyWineDay · 04/02/2026 08:53

@ShottaSherrif you started WLIs with a BMI of 24? How did you manage that?

ShottaSherrif · 04/02/2026 09:05

@HappyWineDay i was inspired by Harriet Walker in the Times. She microdosed to lose a stone. It was not hard to obtain it turns out.

Did you just lie about your weight?

ShottaSherrif · 04/02/2026 22:14

Nope. Sent a picture and true stats, and it was agreed that I could have it prescribed.
