Would you use weight loss injections through Boots if you were 2 stone overweight. Had high blood pressure but were medicated and controlled but found it very difficult to lose weight on long term antidepressants. Had osteoarthritis of the hips and hands. It worries me the speed you can put the weight back on after losing it and wonder if it is worth the risks over 2 stone?

Probably not for two stone, if I’m being honest.

Not through Boots, far too expensive. Also not for the sake of 2 stone, would you even qualify?

Vickyfowler - Hi, Boots say BMI over 28 with additional medical condition eg high BP and my BMI is 29

It depends on how much the two stone is affecting you. If you need it for a short term solution yes. If just general then it depends on whether you think you can keep the weight off “this time” or get some immediate benefit . I’ve done it all weight watchers, slimming world, crash diet, shakes, counting calories etc. it always went back on. Am on mounjara and am actually losing weight more slowly than normal as I am eating a lot more than I usually would on diets not because I’m hungry but for gastrointestinal issues so ensuring enough fibre etc, am hoping this leads to different habits.
On a separate note I use Boots because of their reputation but have been pretty disappointed. The staff locally not that helpful as I thought they might be and mixups with order a few times. They hardly ever answer the phone so I have to trek in a few times to sort stuff out. Asked for help with getting correct swabs and gave me a something to wipe surfaces stuff like that. Guidance on first use “ was read the instructions in the packet. “
The palaver re photos etc before prescribing was a real pain. Might be something cheaper or easier though they all seem to need photos. But I can’t be bothered going through all the stuff about taking photos using their system while holding ID etc so sticking with them for now.

Have been told some people just lie about weight and height and make themselves look big in the photo. Never heard of anyone being weighed etc.

I would use them but aim to lose a bit more. Go from a bmi of 29 to 22 will give you more head room. But, don’t use boots, go on to monj website and look for a better price. Go up as slowly as humanly possible and make the changes using the tool so you can keep it off (low impact exercise you can manage for 150 minutes a week and weights you can manage twice a week, whole food diet with a focus on low salt and high protein and fibre, dealing with stress and sleep, learning your triggers and coping mechanisms).

If you lose two stone and return to however you are living now, it will go back on. Lifestyle changes supported by medication are key and going up and down the doses slowly will help.

just my opinion. I’ve lost six stone from a bmi of 32ish to 20ish and have been maintaining and reducing my dose. I’m aiming to keep taking the meds for as long as possible to support my maintenance. I haven’t swallowed the cost for my health. I have quite a few physical health issues that make exercise hard but I’m finding things that work.

I wouldn't use boots no, as per PP, they don't provide any more support than an online pharmacy charging £££less, they just provide you with the medication at the end of the day. Regarding it helping your arthritis it will help but only if you stay on it, the anti inflammatory benefits stop when you you stop using mounjaro, so you would need to stay on a small maintenence dose. Can you afford that? Don't underestimate how much it will help, I went from using a walking stick and being in agony to walking up and down the stairs in days, I lost half a stone in the first week.

@BeAmberZebra I’ve been with several providers who have all insisted on regular video calls to check weight. Things are quite tight with the legitimate pharmacies and have got tighter in the 18 months I’ve been using.

Not had with Boots and friends with Asda not had this experience. But no guarantees for every provider. To be clear not recommending just commenting.

If it would improve your life then yes, go for it. Use monj.co.uk to find a cheaper provider than Boots. It'll help your ostheoarthritis.

Funny you say that as I’ve been prescribed by probably 10 different companies and I’ve never had a video call ever , photos yes , scale pictures yes , but never a video call . Loads of people ‘ cheat ‘ with photos , I’ve learnt so many ways that I wouldn’t even have dreamt of .

I would do it for 2 stone.
Im currently on it Ive lost 2 stone with another 1 stone to go.
My blood pressure was always fine.
My knees still hurt though!
I did find i had a lot less energy for the first few months , being in calorie deficit is tiring, it surprised me as most people say how much more energy they have when losing weight but for me it was the opposite!
But ive adjusted to it now and have same levels if energy i always had (but not more)
So its been great for weight but i havent seen other noticeable health differences.
Also even on mj its been very slow for me to lose 2 stone (6-7 months), slower than expected, but i am a short menopausal woman in her 50s!
