Disposing needles

As I approach maintenance, and hopefully come off the jabs in a few months, I'm wondering how I might safely (and if possible, discreetly) dispose off the needle collection I have? Would appreciate any suggestions people might have. Thanks.

This is crazy, when you consider how many players will be collecting sharps bins. How can there be nowhere to dispose of them?!

It is expensive to deal with sharps. Specialist collection, tracking and incineration

Thank you all for your posts. I can't help feeling given there are millions of GLP users, and what a palaver it is to safely dispose them, that perhaps quite a few (or even most) are not disposing them off responsibly!

We're having building work done soon, maybe I can chuck it in the foundations

We've been renovating and some of the workmen suggested we bury the old asbestos in the foundations! We didn't and paid for its removal, but I do wonder what things are buried under houses. 😕

I still have a sharps bin from when I had IVF 5yrs ago. I've even moved house and still trying to get rid of it.

My council doesnt take them they direct to pharmacies. I contacted one they said they dont take them. I am not ready to dispose of it yet but for forward planning. No idea what I will do when the time comes.

Med Express sent me a sharps bin with my first order, surprised you didn't get sent one. Sorry just read and you did. I'll probably ask my vet to dispose of it for me

Edited

How come you get a vet and i just have to go to a bog standard gp? 😆 🤣 😂 (kidding).

I emailed my local authority and they are collecting from my house next Tuesday. That was easy 😀

Can you not just take them to a tip and bung in the huge big container ?

You're kidding aren't you? There is no big container at any tip I've ever been to that takes asbestos!

We had to get a costly, specialist asbestos company to take it away. The previous home owner had partially buried asbestos sheets in the ground, plus there was a double garage falling down and the roof was asbestos.

The council did collect a half sheet for free- but it had to be tripled bagged in thick plastic and we were given a specific certificate of disposal.

Pretty sure she was referring to the sharps bin not the asbestos…

Ahh sorry. But equally, there is no big sharps bin container the tip! They all have cameras and record car number plates so I personally wouldn't be throwing sharps bins in any of the bins at the tip either.
