Hi , I have a non existent metabolism, and a desperate to loose weight. I do not have a big appetite, but at 5 ft 2 I weigh12 stone .......
Which aid would be the best Manjauro or Wegovy?

Mounjaro is the superior medication and I would start with that. If you experience any issues you can change to Wegovy.

I lost over five stone in a year, going from 13:8 to 8:4.

Good luck!

BarryBannan · 17/01/2026 09:02

I've no idea but I'm half an inch shorter than you and 2 stones 10 pounds heavier and a 16/18. I'm going nowhere near jabs, but switching to only one carb meal a day following the Zoe Harcombe plan.

I'm sure people with knowledge of weight loss injections will advise you. Good luck!

SilenceInside · 17/01/2026 09:07

As @Zempy has said, Mounjaro showed better results on average in the clinical trials than Wegovy, although both produced significant weight loss. Mounjaro was around 20% of starting weight where Wegovy was 16%. Mounjaro was also shown to have fewer side effects, on average.

Wegovy is currently cheaper than Mounjaro, so if cost is an issue then that’s worth bearing in mind.

Sweetiedarling7 · 17/01/2026 09:11

Definitely mounjaro.
It is better in terms of results and fewer side effects.
Many people tried swapping to wegovy after the mounjaro price hike last year but most have returned because wegovy just isn’t as good. It isn’t cheaper if it doesn’t do the same job.
It will be the best money you ever spent.

I'm quite scared of these to be honest. I'm worried about side effects both short and long term and with me it's about what I eat as well as how much, I'm also a comfort eater. I'd be afraid of having to inject for life. I need to change my eating habits forever or I would go back to being this size again. If these suppressed my appetite I'd just eat less chocolate, pastry and stuff not change how I ate.

I find I don't fancy junk food or even carbs as much as I used to. I feel vaguely meh about food generally, not obsessing about certain things anymore. I no longer crave bread and butter or chocolate, I prefer light, fresh food.

It's very, very weird but I love it.

Itscoldouthere · 17/01/2026 09:37

I think if I was just starting out I’d try Wegovy as it’s much cheaper than MJ, I know it doesn’t have as good weight loss % but it’s only a bit less. Most people who start on it seem to do well, but switching to Wegovy after being on MJ seems to not work as well, ideally you are looking for slow steady loss, it takes longer than most people expect, so cost does become a factor.

You sound exactly like me, before mounjaro. I have had times of extreme stress and did not look to food at all , what I want to eat has also changed. I used to eat a kilo jar of Nutella, with a spoon at least every month. I literally couldn't help myself. Haven't even thought about Nutella since starting. I have chocolate orange which has been in my fridge since August! I have no interest in carbs in simple general, where I was 100% a carb addict. It is like voodoo magic.

Mysticmaiden · 17/01/2026 13:12

I switched from mj 10mg to wegovy 1.7mg after 14 months on mj and wegovy works better with suppression and satiety with zero side effects. Wish I'd started on it from the start. Wegovy is cheaper too. 2 of my friends have switched and had good feedback.

I am 4st down using MJ. In my experience, that gives better results.

I have a £50 discount for MedExpress if anyone would like to save themselves some money at the start of their journey

LOSE

Queenfreak · 17/01/2026 21:16

Im glad to see a positive post about WeGovy as I took my first jab this week.
I figured the long term costs were good enough to try it before MJ. Im going to give it 6 months and see how I fare.

SilenceInside · 17/01/2026 21:17

But which one would you choose, @RachTheAlpaca in order to lose some weight?

Saltnchilli · 17/01/2026 21:19

I tried wegovy to start with as was cheaper but it didn’t do a thing. So I changed to mounjaro and I’ve lost 3 stone

RamALamADingDong2 · 17/01/2026 22:26

Do it. Mounjaro, all day long, with bells on! (I've tried both and Mounjaro is far far better for most people in every way.) Good luck, and congrats! You're about to change your life :)

IndysMamaRex · 17/01/2026 22:34

Jabs are only a short term fix. Research shows within 2 years of stopping your gain all the weight back plus extra. This is because your habits haven’t changed.

its easy to go for the jabs but ultimately unless you have a serious look at diet & exercise nothing is gonna change. Change is hard & takes time but it’s worth it.

These drugs have been used for over 20 years to treat diabetics. The side effects are not long lasting, you stop injecting and they go away. I have some issues with constipation but apart from that I’ve been lucky.

What they do is change the way you think and feel about food. I still really enjoy food just less of it and I am not fussed about sweet things. I don’t comfort eat as I don’t associate food with comfort now.

As for being on it for life, some people want to carry on using it and others don’t. It’s a very personal thing. I don’t think I will, I hope I can maintain my weight without the injections.

All diets are a short term fix. Only long term consistent change works and at these prices that’s what I am focusing on creating while MJ takes the pressure off.

Its a scientific miracle.

Flowers999 · 17/01/2026 22:40

Mounjaro lost 7 stone in 12 months...know people who did MJ swotched to wegovy then back to MJ.

Sparklywino23 · 18/01/2026 01:23

Mj user here and then switched to Wegovy after the price hike.
I think mounjaro was far more effective, it has 2x glp-1s as opposed to Wegovy having 1x

I have no idea if my experience is related to the glps however with mounjaro, there was no hunger and no WANT for food and it was really like eating for fuel. It was amazing!!

Wegovy, feels like it removes the hunger, yes, but not the want so for me it feels like it comes with a need for a healthy dose of willpower. The problem with that is that, is, if i had the willpower I wouldn't be overweight in the first place.

Ultimately Mj worked better for me, but im sticking out wegovy for now for financial reasons.

My one piece of advice regardless of the choice is, make the necessary changes to your diet. These are amazing, but they are just a tool at the end of the day.
So many stories about people regaining afterwards but surely that's because they have expected everything from the drug and not make the fundamental changes themselves.

JustYourAveregeMillennialMam · 18/01/2026 15:25

I’ve tried both. Lost more weight on Wegovy but didn’t feel great at times. Symptoms were manageable, nausea and acid reflux. Mounjaro definitely suppressed my appetite but not on the same scale as Wegovy but I had 0 side effects.
Had to stop as I wasn’t very well (unrelated to the jabs but was advised to stop while receiving treatment and recovering) but have been cleared to start again. Now that the price of Mounjaro has gone up so much I think I’m going to go with the Wegovy.
