If so how is it? Does it work st lower doses or is your tolerance still high?

I came off it slowly when prices went up in spetember l, was up at 15mg. Really struggling with food noise.

Can't afford the higher doses so considering wegovy but wondering if mounjaro could Still be an option at lower dose?

Me. I was at 12.5mg and stopped in September. Sadly put a stone back on. Apparently after 6 weeks off it you can start back from 2.5mg. I’m on my second week and it’s not as effective as last time!

mynamefor2025 · 15/01/2026 22:53

Thanks. This is my worry. My head says I can't be on it forever but like I say the food noise is so hard. That's why I'm wondering If wegovy would be better but everyone says it's not as good

Some people are better on wegovy. You never know. I’d not go into it with a negative mindset though as it won’t work if you do.

That’s totally untrue. These medications do not work according to your belief or mindset.

I really miss the feeling of not thinking about food.

My friend switched from 15mg mj to 2.4mg wegovy, well she tried 1.7 first which she said was ok and then 2.4mg which she said kick started her suppression again and weight loss. Another friend has switched from 7.5mg to 1mg and says she can't finish her meals due to good suppression. I switched from 10mg to 1.7mg and its very strong suppression and satiety, stronger than mj. Done 2 pens on it and about to start my third and I've lost weight 3lbs on first pen to get to my goal of 9st. There are many that say its not as effective so it's a risk, especially if you have high blood sugars, but its a lot cheaper so I'd say worth a try first.

Thanks. Did you / your friends have a break between them? I've been off it for a few months now just wondering if that would impact the effectiveness between the two

There is fairly conclusive evidence that medication does work better if you think it will, the placebo effect is really, really strong.

Do you know how to read a medical research paper? No, I didn’t think so.

Don't make stupid statements about medical research and terminology that you don’t understand.

Following as I’m thinking of restarting. I came off MJ in sept. Put on about 3lb the same week despite tracking calories etc so I assumed that was the water weight etc that I had also instantly lost the week I started MJ!
I put on another 3-4lb over Xmas which I’d like to shift plus a bit more to give me more of a buffer. I feel like I stopped too soon last time.
I have a 2.5mg and a 5mg pen in the fridge but I’m still dithering at the min!

chequeredcushion · 17/01/2026 12:47

Yes I came off it in Aug after going from 113kg to 75kg. I then became pregnant and put on weight through being so hungry in early pregnancy. Anyway the pregnancy wasn’t meant to be but between that and Christmas I’d put on about 7kg in total.

I restarted on 2.5 almost 2 weeks ago. It’s defo not as effective for me this time around. I had total suppression and no food noise from the first jab last time, this time it’s giving me some willpower to resist cravings but not eliminating them totally and I’m still very hungry come mealtimes, whereas I didn’t feel hunger at all first time around on 2.5.

What they said is correct - the placebo affect is very effective. Do some research yourself!

OP I have come off MJ and have gained about half a stone (still eating like a monster so assume this will continue until I take action) planning to start again at 2.5mg next month, unfortunately! I’m going to try and get to as low a weight as possible before stopping. I feel like I will need to be on it for life though.

FlatStanley50 · 17/01/2026 13:26

Yep I too came off in September and have put on a stone really quickly. Food noise came roaring back. I have started back on 2.5 and finding it not very effective yet. Really hoping that will change as I go up the doses again. Think I’m going to have to be on this for life which is depressing.

No they went straight in on the next week when their standard dose was due, as did I. Seem to work fine but then some say it doesn't. I do think it's about an effective dose, I could have started lower if I let my fears take over but glad I didn't.

I’m a medical doctor with a PhD in research.

@Chickenwing2 clearly you’re just not thinking hard enough about losing weight 😂

Believe what you like about me, but if you think that people on Monjauro or Wegovy lose weight because they believe they will then you’re not very bright.

Looking only at Monjauro - most research proves that it is 3x more effective than placebo. No one here is denying a placebo effect, every medic knows it exists. What I am denying is that if you take weight loss medication you have to THINK it will work, otherwise it won’t. That’s unhelpful and dangerous to say and was the post I took issue with.

If it was that easy you’d be slim by now and from what you’ve said, you’re not.

I was on it for a year, lost 4 stone and went up to 7.5mg. I then stopped for 5 weeks over Christmas as I was going away and wanted to enjoy my food. Also I didn’t mind putting a bit of weight on as I’d dropped a little too low.

Im now back to jabbing 2.5mg (on third week) and it’s definitely not as effective. Not really feeling much suppression at all - I felt it from the first day last time. Im not overeating really so will just keep an sue on my weight but I may have to go up again.

It is slightly concerning though!

That makes no sense, the mounjaro is what makes you lose weight. I’ve gained weight because I have come off it, not because I’ve stopped believing it works. Now who isn’t so bright?

I never once said I think that mounjaro is a placebo, just that the placebo effect is a legitimate phenomenon.

You must be a very unhappy (or unhinged) person to derail someone’s thread by trying to start an argument for no reason and pretend to be a doctor.

AcidicTrifle · 18/01/2026 09:01

I switched the Wegovy due to the price changes and it’s not really working for me. It’s much better than being cold turkey, but it is more maintaining my weight rather than helping me lose any. The food noise and intense hunger are dampened, but I miss the Mounjaro feeling of genuinely just not caring about food at all.

I’ll be going back on Mounjaro in a couple of months when I can afford to!
