Did you lose the wobbly tummy fat?

Chopsy123 · 12/01/2026 12:24

I’ve lost over 2st so far on Mounjaro (20 weeks) and whilst the fat has been slowly going from my bum, boobs and thighs, my tummy is still huge and wobbly which makes me look very out of proportion.

I was a slim hour glass shape until pregnancy and in the intervening 15 years, I’ve steadily put on about 5 stones and my tummy makes me look 6 months pregnant on a permanent basis.

However, despite the weight loss, it’s still noticeable.

Do you think it will eventually go when I’ve shifted the remaining 2.5 stones or am I doomed to buy shape wear forever?

I’d love to hear from anyone who has been doing this for longer and can offer hope.

I lost from around my middle more quickly than elsewhere, but everyone is different and as long as the weight is coming off I’m sure you will get there, however could there be an underlying issue such as diastatis recti from your pregnancy?

SnacklessWonder · 12/01/2026 12:31

I've lost 3 stone and down to 8st 5lb but still have a wobbly tummy and apron belly. Just accepted it is what it is now.

Lafawnda · 12/01/2026 12:32

Was the last place it went for me. I list my boobs completely before my belly started to go.

Still a bit wibbly because of skin apron.

SnacklessWonder · 12/01/2026 12:35

I thought about continuing to lose some more weight @Lafawnda as I suspect more would have gone from there but I didn't want to lose any more from my face!

Thats was my dilemma

My belly is slim at 9st
I look a little gaunt, better at 10st. But at 10st all the lovely jeans/teouses I splashed out on dont fit.

So i stay at 9st even though it probably ages me a little, but i feel better/healthier.

Brightlittlecanary · 12/01/2026 12:43

Have you been working out and consuming enough protein. If so yes, if not, then you’re losing s lot of muscle, and no, and you won’t like what you see when you hit goal. It’s really important to protect muscle on this journey,

My face definitely looks older at this weight but clothes fit better, but yeah there's a balance, hence I don't want to lose any more!

It will definitely reduce as you lose the remaining weight, but pregnancy and age are going to mean it isn't necessarily going to be what it was 15 years ago pre-pregnancy and pre-weight gain.

ShrankLastWinter · 12/01/2026 12:47

Some of it. But still wobbly. Apparently likely to improve after a year or so of maintenance with exercise. On the other hand, even mothers who’ve been consistently slim often have wobbly tummies, so I think I’m pretty much there.

Lifejigsaw · 12/01/2026 13:23

Are you exercising and toning?

Chopsy123 · 12/01/2026 15:30

No serious exercising yet. I needed to lose some weight first but I plan to get back to parkrun soon as I used to enjoy it.

I’d like to go swimming but my nearest pool is in a hotel about a 45 min drive away so I might wait for warmer weather in the summer months and go swimming in the sea instead as it’s free. I’ll be thinner then too. 🤞

My arse was the last to go and then it really went, it’s totally empty. Looks really weird.

My stomach is completely flat but with a bit of extra skin.

Disturbia81 · 12/01/2026 16:02

30 day shred is what got rid of the stubborn bits of fat that diet couldn’t get.

HarvestMouseandGoldenCups · 12/01/2026 16:13

Yes. My stomach is what went first tbh and it’s where I held most of my weight.

Overtheatlantic · 12/01/2026 16:14

ive lost 2.5 stone everywhere except my tummy. It’s the reason I’ve only just now gone a size in trousers. Very frustrating but my GP is happy with my blood work and I feel so much better.

Semblanceof · 12/01/2026 16:43

As a menopaual woman it was the last to go, it's completely flat now at 7.5 stone, weirdly my face is OK at this weight, luck I suppose, no alcohol helps massively too.

Buscake · 12/01/2026 17:04

OP I never thought mine would go but it has. I still have excess skin but this is changing still as I exercise more and more. I’ve been at healthy bmi since Sept now, and the difference it has made in energy levels feels huge to me. I am exercising every day and it’s not punishing! I think this is what is really helping with gradual continued changes to how my body looks. I run and lift weights. It’s never going to look like it did before I had my three children but if you’d shown me a pic of me now at the start of my WL journey I would never have believed this was possible.

PurpleCoo · 12/01/2026 19:37

Yes it does go! But, you need to exercise. You don't need to lose weight to exercise, you should be exercising whatever weight you are!

Do the right kind of exercise as well.

I am still a work in progress but I do 2 body pump classes (with instructors who emphasise progressive overload and failure), I do reformer pilates X1 and athletic pilates X 1 and two hours of swimming per week. Plus at least 90 minutes a day of brisk walking.

This has changed my body shape. My arms and shoulders are looking defined, my waist is small, my bum is still big but in a good way, muscular and pert. My thighs are really toned. My belly has indeed shrunk.

I am still overweight (about 2kg to go), and I still feel like my lower tummy is disproportionately large compared to the rest of me even though it's smaller, but it only really looks big when I wear skin tight gym gear and I wouldn't be able to wear a crop top without looking wobbly. I am sure lots of people have this problem!

Kazzaa46 · 12/01/2026 19:40

I’m 5 ft 5 and down to 9 stone 11. I still have more belly fat than I’d like. I’ve exercised and done weights throughout my journey.
My target was 9 stone 7 but I have had to change it to 9 stone to hopefully shift the tummy fat.
I lost weight off my bum first and it was flat to begin with, it’s the only place I have loose skin which I find so odd as it was small anyway, whereas lots of weight has gone from my tummy and no loose skin!

notatinydancer · 12/01/2026 20:00

No mine is still wobbly and quite bloated some days.

notatinydancer · 12/01/2026 20:02

@PurpleCoowhat’s ’progressive overload and failure’ ? I’m about to start Bodypump

PurpleCoo · 12/01/2026 20:21

@notatinydancer Progressive overload is when you gradually increase weights, reps etc. Failure is when you can't do it any more! You have to push to that point to build the muscle. I'm going to be trying Body Pump heavy soon! Heavy weights, low reps etc, makes you leaner.

I find a lot of instructors are more cardio, and just prance about with the weights at the front without giving much direction except shouting out the exercises or beat counts. My preferred instructors will bollock you if your form is bad, and push you to add more weight, keep gping. Funnily enough, in my gym at least, the women are the better instructors and the male instructors are the rubbish prancers!

Hope you enjoy body pump!

susiedaisy1912 · 12/01/2026 20:41

I’ve lost 6 stones on MJ so far and my belly is still there. I’ve lost a bit from it but not much it’s gone from everywhere else but not much has gone from tummy or thighs.

JBJ · 12/01/2026 22:14

My belly has shrunk an awful lot after 7.5st loss, but it’s very loose and wobbly! Looks fine in clothes though!

MeridaBrave · 12/01/2026 22:16

Eventually yes. But I worked hard on strength training. And ate loads of protein. I now have a solid core and no stomach fat. And a 6 pack 😀
