I’ve got 10mgs in my fridge.

I lost (with great difficulty) 1lb on 7.5mgs. Just 1lb in 5 weeks.

I feel extremely nauseous for the first 3 days with horrendous headache on the next dose up. Same again week 2, less week 3, nothing week 4&5.
I barely eat but drink around 2.5 litres of water while feeling so wretched and sick.

Is it better to take on an empty stomach or full? What will help the nausea?

I really have to prepare myself for how unwell I feel and dread the injection in anticipation of it.

I’ve now put it off for 4 days. Hunger through the roof so need to take it asap or that pesky single solitary pound will go back on and invite all its friends to join it.

I just want to get this bloody weight off but not by feeling so unwell I can’t function.

I've had constant nausea when dose was too high, I had to quickly drop down doses. I was only eating 700-900 cals a day and lost 6lbs in that month. If you aren't losing, are you eating a high carb diet as that will retain excess water weight rather than dropping. I have to do higher protein low carb to lose weight and i lost regularly on 1000 cals max at 5ft 3 sedentary.
I've even lost 0.6lbs this week and I'm in maintenance, exercising and eating more carbs with cals of 1300-1500 cals a day.
Basically either you're eating more than you think or your metabolism is screwed on constantly low cals and maybe would benefit calorie cycling. are you logging everything like sauces, milk, added ingredients to drink, oils, fats etc, even handful of nuts/snacks etc. Are you drinking enough water which is necessary for fat metabolism? Definitely recommend lowering your dose, you could count clicks and do an inbetween but it is mainly about a calorie deficit and macros to lose and really not worth spending 3 days a week so ill.
You could try wegovy, I've switched and losing on it and it's better suppression and satiety and more energy with zero nausea and hair loss.

If you feel sick then I wouldn’t be going up a dose.

What are you eating in a typical day? How many calories, how much protein and how many portions of fruit and veg?

IsItSnowing · 11/01/2026 12:49

You would be very unusual if you are maintaining on 800 calories a day. Are you sure you are tracking correctly?
If you're using mfp you need to be aware that a lot of it is inaccurate because it's put in by users and there's loads of random listings like '1 average banana' etc which are meaningless and also often just wrong.
I switched to nutracheck which is better but it still has the 'average banana' rubbish but there is an option to put the exact weight in.
It's very easy to think you are eating next to nothing when you are getting too many calories. I've done it myself.

Some people are non responders to GLP1 drugs. Around 15% - something like that. You might be one of them.

But surely being a non responder is irrelevant in this instance. If OP is eating 800 calories a day then she should be losing weight unless she is really short and weighs very little. A BMI of 32 at any height is unlikely to only need 800 cals for maintenance.

Brightlittlecanary · 11/01/2026 13:07

Op, I mean this politely, are you bed or chair bound and of very short stature? It’s the only way you can be maintaining at 800, and even then it’s a push, most people’s bmr is higher, even in these scenarios.

it is more likely you’re eating, 2000 plus a day to maintain a bmi of 32, averaged over a week. You must be seriously miscounting, like majorly.

It does depend on height. At 5ft 3 my maintenance was 1700 at a bmi of 32 and that's with working full time and long commutes and even when on my feet all day.

I use MFP to track. Have done for years.

Have around 3 stone to loose.

I’ve stalked the MJ threads and can’t seem to find anyone else with the side effects I'm have or where the MJ doesn’t work for them.
I’m keeping going out of pure desperation, I need to shift this weight. Hoped to find my own sweet spot where one dose worked for me.
Might need to throw in the towel and try another medication.

I had really bad nausea going from 2.5mg to 5mg and it lasted two weeks. Going from 7.5mg to 10mg I felt sick for three days. I just sucked stem ginger.

5ft 1,

Seripusly considering changing to Wegovy as i just don’t think MJ is working.

Yesterday for example I had one slice of seeded soda bread toasted(from the freezer) with a cherry tomato and 2 boiled eggs. (No butter) black coffee.
Spray of olive oil with a tea cup of cold boiled rice, 2 tablespoons of sweetcorn and spring onions. Mixed with half a cup of left over home made chicken tikka.
A tangerine, 4 almonds. 2 litres of water.
That’s pretty much what I have in a day. I also take a multivitamin with iron.

Anything in a packet I scan on MFP so it does the calculations for me.

Today I’ve made a delicious slow cooker batch of parsnip, carrot and red lentil soup. I’d have half a tea cup of this for lunch. It lasts me ages. A freeze it for n portions.

Ditch the bread, keep the eggs and and extra veg/salad.

Half the rice, add in more veg other than sweetcorn.

keep fruit and almonds.

you’ll get more nutrients and lower carbs so lower calories or can eat more veg etc for same calories.

other than that, go see go and ask for help - eg nutritionist or similar.

i do get it is challenging when you are short - I’m not much taller and try to limit carbs such as bread, potato, rice and pasta.

sharkyroy · 11/01/2026 14:29

If you are eating 800 calories and have not been losing weight I stand by my previous comment, you need to see your GP, probably soon.

KentishMama · 11/01/2026 14:45

Your post doesn't really make sense. At 800 kcal a day, you should be losing weight fairly rapidly, even with quite a sedentary lifestyle. So there are only two options:
(1) Your 800 kcal estimate is way off - you are not tracking accurately, or not honest to us
(2) There is a physical reason - likely something endocrine - that needs to be addressed alongside the Mounjaro. That means you need to see your GP and possibly a referral to an endocrinologist.

Only you will know which of the two options it is. Good luck, I hope you figure it out!

This simply can’t be representative of what you eat and drink every day, op no one is a medical marvel as you’re claiming to be, I’m sorry,
