Ireland: Cheapest MJ and Tax back

For Irish peeps on MJ WLIs (assume there's more than me!?)

  • Paid e256 for 2.5mg pen in Boots. Any other pharmacy that's cheaper (am mid-west)?
  • Appears to be that you can get 20% tax back on WLIs. Can anyone verify this?

Thanks 🙂

Think the cheapest locally was chemist warehouse, but it was about the same as you paid for 2.5. I've been on 5 for a couple of months and it's €303. I didn't know about the 20%, must look into it. Irish life recently announced they were supporting access to wli...yeah, as part of their annual €75 prescription rebate 🙄

I did look it up (just a websearch) and it seems to be that yes, a person can claim 20% back in tax on WLIs. Would be great if anyone could confirm?

Hold onto the receipts in any case, just in case!

I picked up my first dose of WG yesterday in west of Ireland, and the pharmacist advised me to claim it back, I had no idea I would be entitled to tax back. Also claimed on the web doc consultation. Did it the same way i claim my WFH relief. Will run it through Irish Life later also

@bec81

Just in case bec, you can't claim the 20% back from government and also from private health.

Has to be one or the other.

But if you find out anything with irish life, can you let this post know?

Best of luck on the injections 🙂

Edit: How did you claim 20% tax back for a Perscription you only got yest (you've to wait until 2027 to claim)? I could be misunderstanding.

It amended my tax credits immediately.
Hadn't realised it was insurance or tax though, woops!

Ah, OK 🙂🙂

I wait until the end of the year (keep receipts) and then claim back a lump sum.
