greenspaces03 · 05/01/2026 20:01

Hi I’m just about to start. I was wondering if starting on 2.5mg every 2 weeks (or 10 days) has been attempted by anyone?? How did it go?

I know someone who follows this regime to maintain. Not sure it would be enough to lose on but worth a try I guess! Are you thinking it’ll save ££?

WeAllHaveWings · 05/01/2026 23:57

The half life of the medication is 5 days which is ideal for 7 day dosing.

What is your driver/are you trying to achieve by injecting every other week?

raspberrymeringue · 06/01/2026 07:43

I started on 1.25mg so a half dose per week. This was a restart after finding 2.5mg was too much for me initially due to really bad sides, which I would point out doesn’t seem to be the norm for most people. I think 2.5mg per fortnight would mean that you’re not keeping a consistent dose which might be unpleasant. What is your reason for considering it?

rusyian · 06/01/2026 07:46

if helpful I take 2.5 once a week and have never gone up. My appetite is definitely suppressed and I’ve been losing 1lb a week since the start. I don’t have side effects and feel well and normal. It’s working very well for me.

olympicsrock · 06/01/2026 07:46

Go for a small dose weekly if you want to use less

jan2310 · 06/01/2026 07:49

It’s a prescription medication. You should take it as prescribed and see what the effects are and how it works for you before changing the dosage schedule.

ShawnaMacallister · 06/01/2026 07:50

Why though??

RoundandSad · 06/01/2026 10:02

@greenspaces03 there is someone on another thread who did this to minimise side-effects

I've been scouring around because I've had problematic side effects from the start

That's probably my next step as well

I took a break last week because I wasn't sure I was going to carry on, then took it two days late. So far, I don't have an upset stomach. Fingers crossed.

Try Reddit there is lots of information there

ask your provider, I bet they'll say it's fine though obviously they want the money they don't want you to give up on the med

greenspaces03 · 06/01/2026 10:08

It’s the side effects I want to minimize really hence the protocol. I have just 10kg to lose. Worried about side effects

How are you getting it with only 10kg to lose??

greenspaces03 · 06/01/2026 10:49

Let me clarify. I weigh 100.7kg and my BMI is 36. Personally I only want to lose 10kg. Medically I should ideally weigh 75kg or so @ShawnaMacallisterhope this clarifies

@greenspaces03 there is a website where you can enter details of doses and see a graph that shows an estimate of the amount of medication in your system over time - https://glapp.io/tools/glp1-plotter It can be useful to visualise how the medication will rise and fall after each injection.

Doing 2.5mg every fortnight results in higher peaks and lower troughs, so a more spiky profile compared to 2.5 each week. 1.25mg each week produces lower peaks and a more stable dose level. Anyway, you can try out various options and see what you think.

Ive done 1.25mg every 7 days and it worked really well for me. After 4-5 months i moved to 1.25mg every 5 days. Then 1.75 every 5 days and now (9 months in) im doing 2.5mg every 5 days. I have lost a bit more than 3 stones and i have one stone to go which im confident i’ll achieve with this dosage (and careful eating + lots of physical activity). Then i’ll start decreasing the dosage again and perhaps extending the time between the doses again…

greenspaces03 · 06/01/2026 11:08

Thanks @Placestogohow did you microdose with 2.5mg needle and supply?

At first yes but now im using a 7.5mg pen as this is what i am most comfortable with (and economical). I dont want to get a bigger pen as i would worry about the number of punctures in the seal and the extended life of the pen. A 7.5mg pen last me about 2.5 months (incl golden dose) and about 15 punctures (one for each dose - regular or golden) which i am comfortable with. Longer than that and i would start worrying.

Not much point… you’ll be letting it run out of your system a week before the next dose hits.

Not how it works
Use the plotter

it can stay in your system for about 30 days

@greenspaces03 I wish I had taken your approach from the start

This time I've had a 10 day gap and now is day two. I don't feel half as bad as I usually do on day two. It hasn't affected me doing things, it's manageable - but I have found the whole experience not pleasant.

So I think my next dose is gonna be 10 days time and it's gonna be lower.

averychoc · 06/01/2026 11:51

You haven’t even started yet so maybe just take it as prescribed and see how you get on? Lots of people don’t even get much from 2.5mg (I did I have stayed on it for over a year and lost 8 stone) so if it isn’t effective you would literally be throwing money away. I think start as you are supposed to and if you do suffer side effects reassess. You can try to minimise SEs by eating a clean and healthy diet and staying well hydrated too.

DanceDanceRevolutions · 06/01/2026 12:15

This is more akin to the microdosing strategy that I and others on here have been doing. I started on 1mg a week and have seen good results just from that. No major side effects and fairly rapid suppression/weight loss.
Have regained some of the weight (around 5lb) since I stopped though; however that could be because I let my weight get a bit too low for what I could sensibly sustain.

Incognitoburrito88 · 06/01/2026 14:37

I’ve been doing this for a few weeks now in order to maintain. My maximum dose was 5mg during my weight loss phase and I’ve been titrating down.

I was still losing on 2.5mg every 2nd wk before Xmas - but that was partly because I am very anxious about regaining and was probably being too controlling. I’m not sure I feel much of any suppression in my second week after injecting and my losses are because I’ve been retraining myself since last April.

I don’t understand why you wouldn’t start with the recommended dose and see how you get on to begin with though. Whilst lots of people respond well to 2.5mg (I lost 2 stone on it) many don’t get much effect at all. I would try it as it’s supposed to be used initially and then tinker with it if and when you find suppression too high on 2.5mg.

WeAllHaveWings · 06/01/2026 19:05

Something to consider - this medication has been through actual clinical trials by actual professionals, doses and a dosing schedule designed to maximise effectiveness and minimise side effects and that’s usually a sensible place to start.

If that doesn't work out then perhaps look for some sensible suggestions, but honestly, going into it with an armchair pharmacist mentality is not wise.
