Hi, I’m on a medication that causes weight gain and despite my best efforts over the past 2 or 3 years I’m getting fatter and fatter.
Ive decided that this year I am going to bite the bullet and as part of a general commitment to living a healthy life I’m going to try WLI.
The price differential isn’t a deciding factor but I’m interested in peoples experiences on both. If you use mounjaro what made you choose it? Same for Wegovy. Thanks!

If price is not an issue then I’d go for Mounjaro. It’s more effective than Wegovy and tends to have fewer side effects. That’s on average of course, and people’s individual experiences will differ.

I chose Mounjaro because I had a very large amount of weight to lose, about 50% of my starting weight. People on Mounjaro in the clinical trials lost an average of 22% of their starting weight, compared to 16% of starting weight for people on Wegovy. I felt that I wanted the chance of the higher weight loss given the amount I had to lose.

this is a decent comparison summary. Cost especially at higher doses can be prohibitive since the Mounjaro price hike. I have taken Mounjaro for the last 18months, most bought before the price hikes, but have been fortunate not to have needed to go above using the 5mg pens so costs have been doable.

Also worth saying look at the monj.co.uk and igovy.co.uk sites for safe registered pharmacies and prices.

Thanks, I know this is probably an annoying question but how bad are the side effects? I’m more than happy to be directed to a thread for people like me who are dithering about taking the plunge.

I didn’t lose on wegovy and was never off the toilet. Mounjaro was brilliant for me

@wizbitwoo speaking about Mounjaro, most people don’t get side effects or if they do they are mild and manageable, eg mild nausea, slight constipation, a bit more burpy etc All treatable with OTC treatments and short lived. Some people are unlucky and get higher levels of nausea and some do get sickness and diarrhoea. Usually that’s associated with treatment initiation or moving up a dose level. But again, those are usually short lived and not long term. Sickness and diarrhoea can be caused by eating very fatty, sugary, carby processed foods too, for some.

I had some stomach upset when moving to 5mg after 4 weeks on the starting 2.5mg dose, and again when on 7.5mg. But short lived and I coped with it. No further reoccurrence of anything like that for the rest of the time I’ve being taking Mounjaro which is well over a year now.
