The first step is to check if you are eligible. You need a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 for certain ethnicities or 27 with a weight related health condition like high BP.

Mounjaro starts at around £130 a month, and goes up to £300 or more for the highest doses. If you are eligible you can get a private prescription from a regulated online pharmacy, of which there are many.

AubreysMonkey · 31/12/2025 01:22

I don't think you will be be eligible I'm afraid, I think the prescribing rules are a BMI of 30+

No that's not right. See first poster

PluckyChancer · 31/12/2025 21:44

Presumably you’re not actually obese?

It’s intended to help people who are seriously overweight rather than those who are just a bit tubby and could lose weight through careful dieting and exercise.

It’s unlikely you’ll qualify unless you have other weight related health issues.

SilenceInside · 31/12/2025 21:48

Or if the OP is one of the ethnicities where obese is categorised as starting at 27.

AubreysMonkey · 31/12/2025 21:50

@CharlenedickensI've not known anyone successfully get it prescribed with a BMI below 30, 2 work colleagues were refused (different prescribers) as their 'health related' problems weren't significant enough - one was high BP which wasn't 'high' enough and I can't remember the other reason!

DappledOliveGroves · 31/12/2025 21:57

I got it with no problems with a BMI of 28 and longstanding back issues (unrelated to weight but the questionnaire never asked). This was 18 months ago with Voy.

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 31/12/2025 22:08

@AubreysMonkey there are several posters, myself included who were below 30 bmi with a health condition who have successfully been prescribed.

fir people to have been turned down, they must have had some other reason not to prescribe.

Eat a bit healthier, move a little more. There, saved you £300 a month.
Youre not fat at your height & weight….why do you want to inject your body with a medical substance?

JustBeach · 31/12/2025 22:18

Voy prescribe off label for BMI 27 and over with no health conditions following a consultation.

hyggetyggedotorg · 31/12/2025 22:22

Gees. My ideal weight is heavier than you are now!

I’ve ordered Mounjaro today but wouldn’t even consider it at your weight/height. Just cut down slightly!

Bigboldfont · 31/12/2025 23:07

My BMI is 34, I have T2 diabetes and high BP and another heart condition but can't get it prescribed by my GP, she refuses

The prescriptions people are discussing here are private prescriptions via online pharmacies. Very few people qualify for Mounjaro on the NHS for weight loss alone. The NHS has additional criteria on top of the MHRA approved prescribing criteria for Mounjaro, so to qualify on the NHS you'd need a BMI of 40 plus, with at least 4 out of 5 specific weight related health conditions.

stomachamelon · 31/12/2025 23:33

Sometimes one needs to think outside the box :)

Testingthetimes · 01/01/2026 16:23

I know lots of people who wouldn’t qualify that have got private prescription.
i presume they just lie about their weight?

med express says it will contact your gp.
do all providers do this?

bleakmidwintering · 01/01/2026 16:29

I was 11 stone 11 and 5 ft 3 if bmi over 27 you are eligible.

bleakmidwintering · 01/01/2026 16:31

Can’t believe the hate on here. 11 stone 9 is still overweight. Stop being a Mounjaro nazi!

Foodylicious · 01/01/2026 16:37

I get Wegovy from Cuva Health.
Only on 1st pen so far, this was £87.
I'm shorter than you, BMI around the same.
I had to complete questionnaire, send photos and copy of photo ID for verification. And give permission to check GP records.

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 01/01/2026 18:46

@Testingthetimes Medexpress do send your gp details of your consultation including weight, bmi and prescription details.

Kazzaa46 · 01/01/2026 19:27

I got it at a starting BMI of 28 as I am in perimenopause and the pharmacy classed that as an eligible condition. It varies between providers and what conditions they list for BMI 27-29 but just to confirm that it is possible at under BMI 30 and different providers have different interpretations of the criteria.

I had wanted to know the answer to this question . I know someone who has somehow managed to get her hands on WLI. She was pretty slim to start and now is pretty emaciated. I wonder how on earth she manages to get hold of it.
