Hi all,

Have just had my first mounjaro injections arrive in the post. Planning to start tomorrow but having a massive panic about what life will be like on MJ, will I feel really poorly, am I doing the right thing etc. Please ease my fears by sharing your experience. What was your first jab like, did you experience any side effects? How did it change your lifestyle in the first few weeks? Is there anything you can recommend I should look at to get tips on maintaining a healthy diet on WLIs, exercise etc?

Am in the middle of some other major life stuff as well at the moment (preparing to move abroad, new job, new professional career etc) so panicking this is a bad plan against this backdrop. But also keen to take control of my body and be healthier in my new home and job, so thought good to start this journey now. And definitely need to lose a significant chunk of weight so this is clearly the right step.

How’s it been going @Ocelotfeet27? are you on the January 26 Starters thread? I’m new and finding the group a great support.

OMG it is a wonder drug!
Just go for it.
I have absolutely no reaction to the jab other than a bit thirsty and a dry mouth at first but that seems to subside.

It takes the edge of your food cravings, for me they don't subside that much.
I use it as a tool rather than rely on it. I still need to protect myself from over eating.

I am only on 7.5mg, to be honest the jump from 5 to 7.5 is quite subtle I think I could have stayed at 5 mg. But I stopped losing weight - 2 holidays, a big birthday and Christmas might have had something to do with it. In fact I was still on 5mg and put on 1/2 stone. Now gone!

I was on 5mg for about 10 months I think, weight loss was slow and steady.
I have been on 7.5mg for two weeks.

Over the past 18 months, I lost 2 stone on my own and now two stone with WLI.
I think realistically I have another stone to go.

The worst think is I do not sleep quite as much, I am more wired and it takes me a long time to drop off.
Also my hair is very thin - but this is due to weight loss and age rather than the WLI.
The best thing is the anti-inflammatory benefits of the drug - amazing. If I could be on this for life I will be.

Top tips
Do not be in a hurry to lose weight, do it slowly and steady
It needs to be a lifestyle change
Enjoy your food, cook, savour the flavours
Do weight baring exercises - I am a Caroline Girvan fan

At 60, I am the slimmest, fittest I have been for 35 years.
Can't quite get into my basque I wore on my wedding day but I am not far off.
I am still a size 14 (was an 18+), BMI is still high as I am only 5ft 3 and now weigh 12 stone.
But you know what I look good, not a skinny minnie but a healthy mid-aged woman.
