Dollyparot200 · 29/12/2025 00:42

I've lost quite a bit of weight I think my face looks longer than it did, I know im older now but is this normal? My body looks much better I still have some weight to lose but I dont like how my face looks, it looks out of proportion, its difficult to explain, has anyone else had this? Will it sort itself out in time

There will have been some fat in your face and neck, so when you lose weight, some of that will reduce as well. How much of a positive or negative impact this has on your face varies greatly from person to person.

In my case, my face is definitely less round and sags a little more than it used to. It has taken time to adjust to the person looking back at me in the mirror, but the health benefits of the weightloss are well worth it.

Charlenedickens · 29/12/2025 03:12

If you'd a fat face them yes it would change and become a slim face. whether you prefer i t fat or slim is a personal thing. I look better with a slim face, more youthful , double chins and fat was not a good look for me.

Yes it’s a thing with WLI. Google ozempic face.

I’ve lost 4 st and definitely have this and considering some injectables to treat it.

Yes its me adjusting I think it feels so weird because I never had this shape face when I was thinner but I guess I'm older now. Unfortunately I wasn't able to use WLI because of a medical condition but that condition has caused weight loss, I think its just a shock because I dont think ive accepted im thinner really even though I know I am.

It's a thing with weight loss. Most people struggle to lose the quantities of weight lost on WLI so we aren't used to seeing such a drastic change but it's not WLI that causes it. Skin does tighten up slightly over time after weight loss so if you do have a visibly sagging face it's likely to improve a little bit with time.

Surely that’s obvious? The fact it has been named “ozempic face” suggests that prevalence is much higher using WLI.

Well I’m enjoying seeing cheekbones again and losing my double chin!

Dollyparot200 · 30/12/2025 16:29

Don't get me wrong I'm very happy with the weightless but I've never had a long face in the past so wondered if it's that and the fact I'm older

@mydogisanidiott the apparent phenomenon has been named by the media not by anyone with any research evidence that it’s more prevalent with WLI than with other methods of weight loss. Or that it’s even a thing, in that the face changes are simply down to losing body fat and nothing to do with any kind of additional WLI-caused sagging.

Op mounjaro does not impact your bones or skull. Your facial structure is the same as ever, simply if it was fat it would look round as the fat would widen it

MidnightMeltdown · 31/12/2025 00:10

Unfortunately, once you get to a certain age, you have to choose between your body or your face. When an older person loses a weight, it usually results in an older, saggier looking face, as it was previously plumped out by fat.

Dollybantree · 31/12/2025 00:14

You will get a thinner face with any kind of weight loss, it doesn’t matter how you lose it.

If you lose it quickly and/or you’re older your skin may sag more and it’ll look a bit shocking at first.

I had a bit of a saggy neck but I’ve been taking collagen powder and using a rich moisturising cream religiously and I think that combined with giving it a bit of time
to settle down has sorted it out. My face/neck looks fine now - and I’m 4 stone lighter!

If you google a picture of Alison Hammond before and after her weight loss, you can see her face looks noticeably longer. Not weirdly long, just longer than before now the weight is gone from her face and neck.

You say your face looks out of proportion but I’d bet money it doesn’t really, it just looks different to before.

Disturbia81 · 01/01/2026 20:03

I will always prefer a thinner slightly older face than double chins, tiny eyes and hidden bone structure.

Yes, I thought she’d had work done! Her chin looks significantly different. I do think she’s had some filler. Her skin is radiant.

PeonyPatch · 01/01/2026 20:28

I’m really looking forward to losing my double chin. I’m 35 tho so I’d be interested to see the changes from WLI. It’s better to lose weight gradually, and to stay hydrated, tone, eat lots of protein.
