So close but feels so far

I had my first injection of MJ on 1st July. My starting weight was 12st 8.5lb.

I have steadily lost (after a bumper water weight loss of 6lb in the first week) 2-2.5lb per week.

Mu current weight is 9st 5lb. My target is 8st 10lb. I'm so close...

But as I fully expected my losses have slowed. But my god the last 9lb seem to be dragging. I'm losing 1lb a week which is absolutely normal and healthy but it's dragging because I'm so impatient.

I'm a size 8-10 on the bottom and a 10 on the top (thanks G cup boobs which I've lost 0.5lb of weight from so I'm stuck with them haha) but my atubborn side is chasing the 8st 10lb.

I'm just having a moan about the home stretch of the weight Loss and fully aware I should be grateful that it's worked for me and that I can afford the treatment really.

What is your bmi? I've just hit 9st, having lost just over 4st, and now on maintenance bmi 22.7, the last stone took just over 5 months to lose, its definitely hard but I found tracking food, high protein and especially low carb helped with better losses.
I wasn't exercising then but I am now doing body toning with dumbbells to increase muscle so I can maintain on higher cals, being 5ft 3 my maintenance is only 1500 sedentary.
I lost 1lb a week from the start but I was prediabetic, high cholesterol and high blood pressure with crap genetics so my metabolism and insulin sensitivity was screwed. I'm now normal for everything!

Edited

My BMI is 24. I'm only 5ft 2. 8st 10lb at my height would be BMI 22.3

Just keep going, It does unfortunately take time but time will pass anyway so might as well use it to change your life.

I think that’s normal - 1lb a week. If you want to
lose faster either increase exercise or cut back
on food. I ran 5km every day for a month as I too was impatient 😱😱😱

WeAllHaveWings · 26/12/2025 15:23

As you say your only problem is your impatience, it will also get slower. Then once you get to target you will have the, very boring, challenge of maintaining.

Can you try doing something new, hobby or exercise with a target to take your focus off “waiting” for the weightloss.

The last stone or so is extremely difficult even with the mj, not to be a Debbie downer but maintaining is even harder, because there's no goal, so any deprivation is perceived as exactly that, there's no means to an end, so whilst you're actively losing turning down that biscuit or glass of wine you can turn it around in your head as well that'll count towards my loss this week when you've effectively lost it wheres the aim? Iykwim.
It's a very flat feeling and hard to not keep losing to get the 'hit' from the scales.

Itscoldouthere · 26/12/2025 19:24

@Feelikedancing oh yes I feel exactly the same, I just posted on another thread where people were hoping for a short term thing and possible cost reduction due to Wegovy coming off licence soon (in USA not here). I felt the need to say it’s unlikely to be quick or cheaper.
I do feel like a bit of a Debbie downer, but maintenance is hard, I think I personally currently have diet fatigue and find it all a bit depressing, it’s certainly not like the losing phase and I now also have to face the reality of the monthly ongoing cost to just stay my current weight.

Itscoldouthere · 26/12/2025 19:29

@DarkSuitsSadSongs sorry OP, don’t mean to make you feel bad, my moan is about me, didn’t mean to hijack.
Well done so far, hopefully you will keep on loosing and hit your goal, it’s just a bit of an up and down road, 1lb a week is fine at the later stages.

Feelikedancing · 26/12/2025 19:42

@DarkSuitsSadSongs @Itscoldouthere
I didn't mean to bring things down either, it was just to give a bit of context.
Whilst you're in the losing phase, even a small loss is in fact a win, just that when you get there its hard to stop, I've gone way beyond goal even without the mj because it's my new normal, it's hard to get into a mindset of not actually losing,be careful what you wish for and be mindful that you will reach goal sooner than you think, and when you do you have to rethink your eating and it's hard, especially if you've been in quite a rigid regime as I was. I'm absolutely determined not to regain the weight.

Thanks all.

As I have insulin resistance (due to PCOS) I'll likely remain on a maintenance dose (likely permanently) because my sugar levels have stabilised since the start of MJ. I've not needed insulin since my 4th injection so it seems like it has a positive effect alongside the weight loss.

My bank balance is not so pleased about that 🙃

I was prediabetic, HBA1C tested in sept 2023 was 45, I actually think I may have been diabetic due to symptoms and a gain of another stone before starting mj in Oct 24, my GP didn't tell me I was prediabetic or acted on it.
now my blood sugars are normal, tested this month. When we lose a lot of weight our natural insulin sensitivity increases. I had to get to 10mg before it helped with my high blood sugar symptoms and then bmi 25 when the doses were all too strong for me so I dropped from 15 to 7.5mg quite quickly, over 2 months. Then had blood tests dec 10th which confirmed HBA1C was 37, HBA1C is an indicator of average of last 3 months blood sugar levels, not just that day. Just trying to say that if you get to a low enough bmi, you may reverse your insulin resistance too which means your body can metabolise glucose well on its own again. I'm going to come off them in spring, focusing on a regular weighted exercise routine first.
