Has anyone had any luck switching from mounjaro to wegovy?

I honestly feel like mounjaro has reached its limit for me. I’ve lost a huge amount of weight on it, but I still have four or five stone left to go.

i last did my injection on 14th December, on 7.5mg. I am considering switching to wegovy. Mainly due to cost. I’m just wondering if it works? To be honest I’d be looking to start a fresh in the new year. So any recommendations are welcome! I’ll either go with another 7.5mg pen, or start with wegovy.

I switched due to the cost in September. It took about 2 months for it to kick in. I went from 7.5mg MJ to 1mg Wegovy but after a month, I put a pound or two on and asked for a higher dose. Got to 1.8MG and whilst I didn’t lose, I STS. Finally, at 2.4mg I started to lose again. I went from 11.12 at the end of August to 10.9 as of Thursday. No whooshes but I’ve still lost.

I have had more of an appetite and have had to exercise some self-control. I figure that stands me in decent stead for when I taper down.

I’m close to goal and so I firmly expect loss to slow down but now I’ve gone through those frustrating two months, I’m happy.

I’ve gone in at 0.25 - mainly because I am hoping it’ll be more of a background tool than a full blanket on my appetite like mounjaro was at the start.

I switched and, until last week, was on 2.4 but I’ve made the decision to stop. Wegovy just hasn’t worked in the same way and had the same results as Mounjaro but it’s still costing me almost £200 per month. When I was seeing weight loss on MJ, I could at least say to myself that the expense was justified but certainly not now I’ve had to move to Wegovy. I’m so frustrated as I cannot afford to go back onto MJ so I’m stuck really, I have at least 4 or 5 more stone to lose and yet I can feel the hunger pangs returning and food noise increasing too. I’m desperate not to regain the 4 stone I lost on MJ.

Different perspective-
I lost a lot with slimming world and have put a lot back on again. I found maintenance hard.

However, my body has had several years of no longer being morbidly obese, and I’ve been able to be more active at some points.

Of course we want to keep losing, but it isn’t a total loss if we can’t. It’s still benefitted our health. Take the opportunity of a smaller body to increase activity and having experienced reduced appetite rethink food.

I’m currently working on my mental health and attitude to food. I’m not losing yet but when I lose weight in future I will be in a better position to keep it off.

I swapped in September, started on 0.5mg, was on 7.5MJ. I didnt lose anything but didnt put any on.

Went up to 1.0mg after a month and started to lose again. Just a lb a week to start with but the last two weeks have list 2lb then 3lb.

Suppression is good and food noise is ok but i do have terrible nausea for the first couple of days. Mind you l had it sometimes on MJ.

Overall its working for me and im only paying £99.00 on Swift Doctor so its worth it.

Someone asked the same question earlier this morning, if you search on here there will be responses to this going months back.
I switched from 10mg to 1.7mg and I regret not switching sooner. On mj I had a background nausea, poor sleep with nightmares, very low mood and energy, significant hair loss, felt like a zombie just wanting to lay around for 3 days after my jab, no motivation and felt cold all the time...every single one of these side effects have vanished. My mood and emergy has dramatically improved and my hair loss has stopped and im back to pre mj levels yet im still on low cals and losing weight. I've also lost 3lbs in 4 weeks and I'm now 9st 0.5lbs bmi 22.7 and smashed my 4st loss goal yesterday on my birthday. I had stalled for a month on mj, my first stall in 14 months. Suppression and satiety is much stronger and zero food noise or sugar cravings, my tummy is less bloated than on mj. Zero side effects, I'm so happy. I have 2 friends who have switched, one from 15mg to 1.7 which she said was ok, then to 2.4mg which has given her strong suppression. Another has gone from 10mg to 1mg which she said she was constantly hungry on, she doesn't calorie count and hasn't changed her carb heavy diet, she then moved up to 1.7mg and in 2 weeks is losing weight again. This is after saying mj made her so sick and nauseous it put her off eating but she us eating more on wegovy yet she had a 3-4 month stall on mj and has yet to hit her 2 stone loss in 14 months. I do high protein low carb which I recommend as I've gone from prediabetic, high cholesterol and blood pressure to normal everything.

Not switched as such but decided to try Wegovy after stopping MJ because of side effects (awful nausea all day every day). No side effects with Wegovy whatsoever and strong suppression which I didn’t have with Mounjaro. It just made me to sick to eat. Regret not having gone with Wegovy from the start. Would not go back to Mounjaro even if I got it for free.

Oh wow! I’m really hopeful it’ll work for me!

I was initially hesitant to try it, especially because there are so many negative posts about Wegovy compared to Mounjaro. However, my experience has been the opposite—both in terms of side effects and appetite suppression. For me, it has definitely been worth it.

firsttimesolotraveller16 · 21/12/2025 19:12

I’ve submitted my video to pharmacy2u. To be honest with the prices I’d be happy for just a helping hand with suppression. I am determined to get back on with it in the new year and tackle everything head on. I went from 23 stone to 16 stone on mounjaro, and I want to lose the last 4-5 next year. I’m going to get a PT, too.

I switched to Wegovy in September due to the price increase and I have not lost anything, my weight fluctuates week by week a couple of lb on and then off again, I am getting so frustrated and down about it as I do at least 3 gym/PT sessions a week and I always have a calorie deficit.

WafflingDreamer · 14/01/2026 13:56

I've not found wegovy as good personally. I switched the end of November but had been on 15mg of Mounjaro for a long time, I lost a total of 7st in 14 months.

I've seen a few people say that MJ is like having 2 friends on your shoulder, 1 telling you that you aren't hungry and the other telling you that you don't want to eat chocolate, biscuits ect. With wegovy you only get 1 friend telling you that you arent hungry. For me that friend is very quiet and very very easy to ignore, I find the food noise really hard having not had any for well over a year. With MJ if I was baking for example I wouldn't want any, I could happily walk past a packet of open biscuits and refuse chocolate without a thought, on wegovy I have to use so much willpower I want to eat Crisps and chocolate, if the kids have a takeaway I desperately want to join in.

I haven't lost any weight since swapping to wegovy and in fact I gained 7/8lbs after Christmas, being unwell with flu and starting HRT, which I cant seem to shift.

I had looked at wegovy as a stepping stone towards not needing WLI however 2.4mg is costing me around £150 a month which is only a little bit cheaper than 7.5mg MJ so I am tempted to swap back until I get to target which is another 2 stone.
