Any help from others who have been diagnosed with gallbladder issues since being on MJ is appreciated?
Did you dr insist you came off immediately or go down a dose?
Ive had an attack, waiting for a scan appointment and blood results but Dr suggested I need to prepare to come off MJ or possibly go down a dose (currently on 7.5).
Was going to just stay on 7.5 until scan and then drop dose down (not c excited about that as 5 didn’t do much for me).
Anyone else similar boat??

The scan will be to show things like stones, sludge, blockages or any signs of pancreatitis.

I know it must be disappointing to even think about changing your dose, but remember the most important thing now is your health and if that means following your Drs recommendation for a few weeks to keep yourself safe is the right thing to do.

What other people have done is not really relevant as gallbladder attacks can have different outcomes for different people. Hope you get your scan and some answers quickly.

Thank you for your reply, I think mainly I was asking not so that I could copy what other people do but more for their experiences? Sometimes it’s helpful to have positive outcomes to keep yourself positive or balanced.
Im not going to ignore my doctors advice, its just always nice to have conversations with people in the same boat so to speak.

Just cut out carbs xx

If you eat potatoes over christmas, you will likely get another one. Just have the one or two

It's fat you need to restrict if you have gallbladder problems. Carbs won't affect it.
But the gallbladder will increase bile production if you eat a lot of fat and that can both trigger more gallstones to be created and an increased risk of one moving into the bile duct.
When mine was diagnosed, I was told nothing with more than 3% fat. It did definitely help.
It was before I started mj so no advice on whether to continue. But there is no problem being on it after you have the gallbladder removed.

This
I had a series of bad attacks, then I ate nothing with fat in it for a month to be safe. The attacks stopped after a few days.
After that I was able to eat normally, never had an attack since in 20 years.

You can reduce gallbladder attacks by changing your diet and following a healthy, low fat diet.

Greasy and fatty foods will trigger an attack. These are the sorts if foods you want to avoid on Mounjaro anyway because they trigger gastro sude effects, but more importantly because these are not healthy eating habits.

I previously (before covid lockdowns) lost a lot of weight by eating low fat, low carb, low calories. But then in lock down the healthy eating slipped. I developed gallbladder issues (and ultimately had my gallbladder out), I think because my body had got used to low fat, low carb, healthy eating... and suddenly I started eating ice cream and chocolate.

My experience raises the question - has your diet changed because of Christmas? This could well identify the trigger and solution.

It's fat not carbs you have to restrict.

I started having gallstone attacks after losing weight rapidly with MJ.

I came off MJ immediately and due to the strict low fat diet I had to be on to avoid agonising attacks I continued to lose weight until I had my gallbladder removed without needing MJ.

The waiting lists for gallbladder removal are huge at the moment due to so many people having issues because of MJ.

My relative is having her gallbladder out soon due to attacks on MJ.

She basically can't eat any fat now.

She thinks it's a fair trade since she's 4st down...

Apparently it's not the MJ itself but the rapid weight loss that causes the gall attacks.

Question for any doctory types. Sorry to hijack your thread OP.

Has the risk of gallbladder attacks passed one you hit a healthy weight (e.g. BMI 25 or under)?

No that's not how it works. It's generally thought to be about the impact of weightloss on your gallbladder chemistry.

I was about BMI 23.5 when my gallbladder attacks started.
