😀
it’s true though, you will look fine covered up , but in swimwear or underwear you won’t like it and it will be a big effort to fix it.
so many focus on the number on the scales alone, and I absolutely get the urge to get the weight off as fast as possible, but maintaining muscle is really important , not just for health, or being able to actually enjoy food when we hit goal, but our appearance, our tummies shrinking back, wobbly thighs, bingo wings etc.
i lost 6 and a half stone, worked out throughout, ate my protein, I’m bmi 20,and I had some wrinkly skin on my upper arms, a little under my back side and you could see a little on my tummy, but you could see muscle definition and I was toned, but it was there, that sort of loose wrinkly look, that would have been much worse had I lost a lot of muscle, and after 7 months in maintenance it’s nearly all gone and tightened up. You’d now not know I ever lost the weight and think I was always this size.
when I first hit goal you could tell I’d lost weight, when I was naked or in my underwear, you could see it, I’m shortly going on holiday and I actually bought swimsuits, thinking there is no way I can wear a bikini, but I could happily wear one now, as I didn’t have much to fix when I moved into maintenance, had I lost it faster and lost muscle, I’d have been in a much worse position, you look fine covered up in your clothes, it’s out of them that’s the issue. And you don’t want that flat bum look either. When I hit goal I looked great in clothes, you could see the definition in my arms, my backside was still curved, my stomach flat, my thighs lean, but naked I could see it snd so could my husband, although he was lovely if asked, was just like yeah maybe a bit, now he’s like wow, you look lovely,
it also helps your face, I’m really not sure how, but it does. I did develop a little bit of a turkey neck, but that’s also disappeared now. And my jaw line tightened up.
you want to have as little to fix as possible when you hit goal.
i lost about 1.5 to 2lbs a week on average. As we lose every week consistency it goes really quickly, but making sure it’s as much fat as possible and as little muscle, is so so important.
my honest advice is the number on the scale it’s important, but equally if not more important, is doing absolutely everything to protect your muscle at all cost, and lose in a healthy sustained manner, and you will look and feel great when you hit goal or not long after. It doesn’t matter if it takes a couple of months longer, better that than having to spend a couple of years trying to fix it when you hit goal and feeling self conscious about what you look like out of your clothes, unable to wear sleeveless tops, aware of your flat backside, or wondering why your tummy is still fat.
