How many are lying to get Jabs

FightNight · 02/12/2025 22:00

I have a long term mental health condition and on putting that on the questionnaires online they won’t prescribe me the WLJ. I have spoken to my psychiatrist though and he recommended them for me so in the end I just lied to get them.
I now find myself wondering how common this is? I don’t like having to lie, especially when some prescribers want a face to face online consultation.

I don’t think anyone would know this to be honest and obviously now gp;s should be informed, plus you need to prove id and show pictures,

Tiredbadger · 02/12/2025 22:14

I know 2 friends who do this. Pretty easy too from what I’ve seen. They both are around 60/65kg and add on about 20kg to their weight when applying for it. The prescription usually asks for a photo too but somehow they get away with it.

SilenceInside · 02/12/2025 22:17

@Tiredbadgerthey add on 3 stone plus to their weight and none of these pharmacies notice that their photos don’t match??? Are you sure they are legitimate pharmacies?

They just get it from the same place, so only had to upload one photo at the start and they’ve been on it for about 6 months now. I think it was Voy or juniper.

SilenceInside · 02/12/2025 22:22

But were they overweight/obese to begin with?

Twoshoesnewshoes · 02/12/2025 23:05

I lied to get mine.

Incognitoburrito88 · 03/12/2025 12:08

I don’t think the OP is lying about her weight. She’s not telling the prescriber about her long term mental health condition….

I wouldn’t feel bad OP if your psychiatrist knows then omitting the information to fulfil the tick box prescribing of the pharmacies doesn’t seem like a big deal to me!

Are you sure, that seems unlikely as it needs to be regular photos, most are every three months, given how scrupulous the pharmacies are and how hard it is to get through the photos adding three stone and getting away with it seems highly unlikely.

WeAllHaveWings · 03/12/2025 14:19

I didn’t lie, but to be honest if other people do then I don’t really think about it much. I might have in the past, but now just think other than pharmacies needing a little bit more evidence it doesn’t impact me. People lie for much worse.

They are adults, assuming they are paying for it from a registered pharmacy, if they decide to take a risk with their health only they will face the consequences.

Is it really any worse than those who are eligible and use a pen for 8 weeks or even longer, or click count, or do split dosing, or go up doses too quickly, or use them to eat stupidly low calories a day for a long period, or have (undiagnosed/in denial of) eating disorders, or share their POM with their partner to save costs, or ignore muscle loss, or do no exercise, or still binge and fast, or don’t read the instructions, or are careless when injecting, or all the other “misuses”.

I’ve come to the conclusion it is probably best not to throw stones from my glass house.

Zempy · 03/12/2025 14:23

If they are getting the genuine medication from a legitimate prescriber then they ask for regular photos and live weigh in video sessions and they inform your GP.

WeAllHaveWings · 03/12/2025 14:30

They probably should be @zempybut there seems to still be pharmacies that don’t and I don’t know if that is because they are not fully compliant with new GPhC rules yet or have other controls to meet their responsibilities , guess won’t see until they each get inspected.

PolkaDotPorridge · 03/12/2025 14:34

I know a few people on it and two that lied. On their heads be it. There’s a reason for accuracy with these jabs.

I get mine from Asda and they don’t ask for any of these things. I didn’t lie to get my prescription but just pointing out that not all prescribers are that vigorous, and I wouldn’t call Asda a dodgy pharmacy.

I did wonder how many people answered honestly about the eating disorder question. I think many of us have had a form of disordered eating to get to the weights we have. I don’t necessarily think it should be a barrier though, but wish more support was available.

Surely if you go in person they can see you?

And the amount of people who take illegal drugs, abuse over the counter pain meds, it’s hardly a new thing, develop a med that has an effect someone wants and you will find someone willing to lie to get it.

susiedaisy1912 · 03/12/2025 17:25

My supplier asks for new photos every few orders and they won’t accept baggy loose fitting clothes in the photos, not sure how slim people are getting hold of it unless someone else is ordering it for them like a spouse and then take it themselves.

I ordered it online and reorder online. They post it or you can collect, but it’s not an in person service.

Threadreplier · 03/12/2025 19:33

My friends wear clothes too small so they look bulgy and put weights down their backs apparently for weighing in! I was shocked when this all came out after cocktails.

I've only had to provide photos twice in 16 months

Which pharmacy is this?

AbundanceofKatherines · 04/12/2025 07:53

@Tiredbadger- your friends weighed 60/65kg at the start and have been on them for 6 months? How much do they weight now?? They must have a lot of money to waste!

I’ve been with Juniper for 7 months and have had to provide photos twice so far. They are very picky and have refused mine if not sufficiently (embarrassingly) graphic.

I get mine from pharmacy 2u and they've never asked for videos and I've only sent three photos in 17 months and weirdly the last one they asked for was from before I started on wegovy rather than a current photo. Which they were very lucky to get because I've deleted most of the few there were!

They do inform my gp but I can't remember the last time I went to the GP so they've no idea what my current weight is

i didn't lie to get mine, i am genuinely over weight.
However i don't have to do live weigh in sessions, that wouldn't work for me as I'd never be able to get online with scales in sociable hours!
I've been on it since the last week of August and never been asked for a photo since getting the original prescription.
They do inform my Drs.

Mysticmaiden · 04/12/2025 20:48

I was obese bmi 32.4, had high BP, prediabetes and am ethnic minority so no need to lie. I'm with Oushk, have to do 6 monthly weight verifications, photos every 3 months and video consultations.
My work colleague lied at a normal bmi of 24 by removing 2cms from her height and adding 2.5 stones to her weight and taking photos with cotton wool balls to pay out her cheeks and 3 layers of clothes on top and bottom. Her 2 friends did similar tricks and they were all prescribed from medexpress! No video consultation, weight verification needed!

KitsyWitsy · 04/12/2025 21:09

Tons of people are. I know a few personally who have had no issues whatsoever. It’s a business.
