Going back on mounjaro to ease pain not just for weight loss

I was on mounjaro for almost a year. Lost about 8 stones.

I have very severe osteoarthritis, it affects my mobility and I need a rollator outdoors and a crutch indoors and I am awaiting surgery.

Towards the end of my weight loss when I started on 15mg I began to notice an improvement in my pain and subsequently my mobility. I could manage without a crutch indoors.

I had read about the positive effect of mounjaro on inflammation so wondered if it was the drug itself or purely the weight loss causing this improvement.

I stopped mounjaro due to costs. I am still in the overweight category with a bmi of 26 but wasn’t all that bothered as long as I could maintain.

My pain levels increased noticeably and I was back to needing my crutch two weeks after stopping mounjaro so I have decided to go back on it again.
It seems to me that it must be the drug itself rather than the weightloss which reduced my pain.

I have read that there is a clinical study being carried out regarding the effect of mounjaro on inflammation. Presently there is only anecdotal evidence.

Has anybody else had a similar experience?

Mounjaro helped my pain more than the huge array of nsaids and other painkillers I have tried over the years.

I think mounjaro is already clinically proven to reduce inflammation , the trials are more about impacts on things like arthritis? I think it’s a good idea to go back on, as it doesn’t really matter to wait for the trial results, just do what works for you.

I have heard about the anti-inflammatory benefits. I'm in 10mg for weight loss, and have been amazed at that my IBS and eczema have almost disappeared. The joy of eating fruit!!! I've had to minimise fruit & certain veg over the last 20 years, but on MJ I can almost eat whatever I want currently loving 🍉🍉🍉🍉

Thanks for the information. All I had seen was relating to rheumatoid arthritis.
It has also helped my immune related colitis and lactose intolerance both of which were permanent side effects from cancer treatment.
It seems so unfair that I have to pay for mounjaro, which helps, but naproxen, amitryptilline, buprenorphine, lidocaine patches, gabapentin, pregabalin, which didn’t help or at least stopped helping after many years, are free.
