How is your face doing on WLJ?

I started in April at BMI 33 now 26 - have been stuck there since August (still on MJ) but my face is doing OK and worried about losing more in case my face drops irreversibly overnight. My sister has lost a lot of weight (not MJ) and is probs BMI 21 and her face has dropped and aged her so much.

Can't comment as not on the jabs but l have noticed people in them do look so much older in their face

Titasaducksarse · 30/11/2025 08:27

I've lost slowly. 3 stone in a year and BMI now 28 so a little way to go. No impact on my face, other than not being fat and jowly any more!

TheRealGoose · 30/11/2025 08:28

Much more youthful, it’s been fantastic, double chins gone, all puffiness/ bloating gone, a fat face is seldom a good look on anyone, and when I stopped I’d a little bit of a turkey neck and that’s all tightened up and gone too, and I’m in my fifties,

TryingtryingTryingfivetimes · 30/11/2025 08:43

So far it is doing well.

The biggest thing, that effects my skin is B12. I have pernicious anemia and gp perscibe one inject every 3 months. I get it done more often as my body requires it. I saw a private doctor who cleared it for me. I have let my gp know this. They just don't increase the dosage. They said they need a specialist to approve it and I'm still waiting for an appointment a year later. So I pay for it.

It gives my skin a shine and most importantly I can't inject myself with insulin with ease, if I don't get it weekly. Without the weekly injection my skin turns hard and it feels like I'm pushing my skin with a stick instead of needle. I have few autoimmune illness.

WeAllHaveWings · 30/11/2025 08:44

It will all depend on age, genes, how much weight lost, how long overweight for, how quickly weight lost (and probably other things)

I am 56, post menopause and have lost significant weight so no denying face has aged, but although I look older I over all look, feel and I am healthier.

Nattmatt · 30/11/2025 08:54

I agree that my unpuffy face is better now with the weight loss and an obese frame with accompanying poor posture is always aging. I need to remember that what’s achieved on the inside as being more important ie healthier ‘younger’ organs and physiology.

I look younger - no puffiness, double chin, tighter jawline, glowing skin etc. I have now reached target (BMI 20) and haven’t experienced any sagging or turkey neck despite being ancient (63). However, I exercise regularly, drink at least 2 litres of water per day, eat and drink minimal UPF and alcohol and wear sunscreen daily. Most important, I inherited good skin genes from my dad!

Also, I think it is any rapid weight loss - not just MJ - that can cause some people to look older? The more ‘mature’ members of this site may recall Nigel Lawson before and after his weight loss in the late ‘80s/ early ‘90s!

Bluessister · 30/11/2025 08:56

My colleague's face dropped a bit but now she is maintaining it has settled down. She looks great all round!

KilliMonjaro · 30/11/2025 09:01

I’m 50 - so starting to see some fine lines anyway… not into botox / fillers etc so I’ve invested in some high end face lotions and potions. My skin quality is looking better not eating crap or drinking alcohol too.

Training at the gym - I can see my neck muscles again and the double chins are receding so that’s good!

Also taking collagen, eating oily fish and drinking a shed load of water which helps - we are all going to age if we are lucky ⭐️🤞

TheRealGoose · 30/11/2025 09:06

I see it quite often, on social media, this thing where people, think fat faces are youthful, as it stretches out the wrinkles. I have never witnessed this, a fat face just looks fat. And when its on top of a fat body, often a large tummy and a matronly bust, it’s incredibly ageing, nothing screams middle age more.

if you lose a lot of weight, when you hit goal, no matter how diligent you are, you will look like you’ve lost weight, but once you’re in maintenance it all starts to tighten up and look like you were always this weight.

personally I take collagen, 3 litres of water a day and work out most days, what I looked like six months ago when I hit goal is very different to what I look like now. All lose skin has tightened up, my face looks significantly more youthful, and as said, the turkey neck I developed has completely disappeared and my jaw line tight. Sure, I have wrinkles in line with my age, but do I look better and more youthful than I did six stone ago or when I first hit goal. Absolutely.

PumpkinTwistyWindToots · 30/11/2025 09:09

My face looks great. I'm 45 so it doesn't look the same as the last time I was this weight in my 20s but I look much younger than I did with an obese face. Fat faces don't look youthful in middle age, they just look puffy and doughy rather than wrinkled. My cheeks do have a hint of jowl and my neck is wrinkly but overall it's a thousand times better to look at.

Soozikinzii · 30/11/2025 09:09

Face looks better without the puffiness. Noticed some loose skin under chin going for some hifu to address that but better than fat ! Im 65 so left it a bit late I'm sure younger skin will tighten up better.

Zempy · 30/11/2025 09:16

I definitely look younger. I am sixty and have lost my puffy face and double chin.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 30/11/2025 09:25

It looks the same. One of the things I said to me partner recently was I love Wegovey so much as it’s taken the fat from all of the right places. I know that as even though I’m heavier than I’ve been at other times when I’ve dieted, I’m fitting into trousers I didn’t at half a stone lighter. It’s gone from my waist, stomach and thighs and yet I still have fat on my face and boobs. Arse is a bit of a disaster but I think that happened before WLI.

I've lost 3 stone in 3 months and my face has definitely aged, particularly my eyes - it's like they've hollowed out, so I have dark circles and fine lines which I never had before. I didn't necessarily intend to lose so quickly, I've had a few unconnected medical issues and barely ate at all for a few weeks, so I'd agree that it's rapid weight loss/dehydration/poor nutrition that contribute.

MJalltheway · 30/11/2025 09:31

My face is much much thinner. But I wouldn't say I look older or more wrinkled, just thinner. I look back at photos of when I started and I look so very unhealthy. Puffy and dull.
I've lost 4.5 stone, early 50s, and I've cut out most UPFs, eat whole foods, drink lots of water and exercise 5/6 times a week. I feel so much healthier! Even if I looked 20 years older I wouldn't trade because of how amazing I feel.

Exact same description for me. 4 and a bit stone down and this face is far preferable to the puffed up version of early 2025. I had expected it to be worse. But I would still take looking older over the horrid puffy face even if I had more sagging and wrinkles than have transpired. My overall health ‘age’ on my scales has gone from 52 to 44 (I’m 46).

IsItSnowing · 30/11/2025 09:53

My double chins have gone which makes mine look a lot better in my opinion. I don't think I look older but sometimes a slightly fatter face does look more youthful on people.
Loose skin does tend to settle down over time unless it's extreme. I have some crepey type skin on arms and legs which has improved massively over the last few months.

HansHolbein · 30/11/2025 09:55

BMI gone from 38 to about 19. I’m 34. Face looks great, and I look my age. I have good skin, which helps.

If my face looked ‘bad’, I would still rather that than the big, swollen moon face that I had before. I looked so unwell.

Mysticmaiden · 30/11/2025 10:51

I'm almost 44 and been told by many that I now look in my 20s! I used to get look in my 30s before my almost 4st weight loss. I do have good muscle mass for a woman so that helps for all over body minimal sagging. I have zero wrinkles on my face other than a few lines on my under eyelids which improve with better sleep, never had botox. A lot of face health is genetics and avoiding the sun and alcohol.

Well done to you - this is brilliant to know that there is a process for tightening up throughout maintenance. Very inspiring.

I look younger. I'm 44 and moat people can't believe it when they ask my age. They think im at least 10 years younger than I am. I am a BMI of 19 from 30. I do have a tiny amount of lose skin on my neck but it doesn't bother me at all. My face at BMI of 30 was swollen, puffy, I suffered with breakouts all the time. I never have breakouts now, my skin is clear and youthful. I think alot of it will depend on genetics and how much weight you had to lose.

I’m not sure it’s a process, simply as your weight stabilises it tightens, but yes, hydration, collagen, strength training, skin care all helps.

LadyClumber · 30/11/2025 16:50

@Willowy2 - congratulations on your weight loss! Are you maintaining on MJ, by any chance? If so, would you mind letting me know who your provider is? My ideal BMI is around 19.5 (for health more than aesthetic reasons) but my current provider has told me they won't prescribe if my BMI is under 21.

Thank you! I've lost 5.5 stones. I am maintaining on 2 5mg with oushk, they are happy to prescribe down to 19.
