I’m finding working back down the doses so scary.

I’m only 5’2”, I was just over 190Lbs; this morning which was my one year Mounjaro anniversary I weighed just over 116Lbs. It is such a massive, massive change. I have previously lost over 50Lbs twice and put it all back on again and more. I shall soon be 63 years old, I can’t do that again. Mounjaro felt like my last chance saloon, the final frontier; the end game. I accept having to take this medication forever, hopefully in time it or another iteration of it will become vastly more affordable.
I hadn’t anticipated how challenging I’d find this stage. Losing the weight mind wise was straightforward. You lose you win, you maintain, you try to accept, you gain you cry. Now I’ve set myself a 5Lb buffer between my goal weight (120Lb) and the weight I aim to head towards if it’s a special occasion (Christmas/holidays) 115Lb. We’re off on a 3 week cruise holiday just after Christmas so I’d like to be at 115Lb when we board.
I had got up to 15mg, I’m presently on 12.5mg and aiming as I go down the doses to stay at each dose for two months. I’ve just ordered a 10mg pen. I was always a bit apprehensive moving up the doses but that pales into insignificance compared to my apprehension going down.
If you have been on this journey moving down the doses I’d be so grateful to know what I might expect and especially how you understood where your maintenance dose is. I really haven’t seen much about people’s experience with this.
Thanks

I reached my goal about 3 months ago and have been gradually reducing the dose since then and upping the calories to match. So far it’s been relatively ok, I’ve kept within a range of about 5-6 lbs without too much difficulty. I was extremely nervous about maintaining at first and panicked that every tiny fluctuation was the start of regaining everything I’d lost, but you do get used to it. I went up to 15mg at one point but felt weird so did most of my losing on 10mg, I lost 6+ stone. I’m reducing very slowly, down to 5.7mg so far and I have a little stash of pens to use up that will take me through to next spring. I bought the last two from Swift and Pharmulous, who both let you stop and restart as long as it’s within a year of your last prescription. So my plan is to continue to reduce to the minimum dose where I can still maintain a stable weight. If that means coming off MJ altogether, so much the better, but if I need to stay on it, that’s fine too. It looks like if I do need a maintenance dose it will be 5mg or lower and I can manage that ok.

@RoundandSad , the last time I lost 50lb without Mounjaro I intermittent fasted. I still fast but to a much less severe extent, I had previously only eaten 4 meals a week, I ate once every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
Going up the doses posed no issues for me and I think I will need to be on at least a low dose forever.

4 meals a week? That’s a recipe for muscle loss. Without adequate protein the body is forced to break down muscle.
