Did anyone get terrible restless legs on this? And how long did it last? I'm really hoping it goes away. Thank you.

Can't say I did. The only time I got quite ill was when I accidentally took a double dose one time and it took a week to wear off 😫

ThirdStorm · 11/11/2025 12:05

You know what, I did for a short while, in the early days I noticed it as I haven't previously had it before. I didn't join the dots and think of it as a side effect. I can't remember it lasting long and I don't have it now.

Willowy2 · 11/11/2025 12:57

Yes I did for a shirt time. I ended up buying a weighted blanket to deal with it. It didn't last long though.

RoundandSad · 11/11/2025 14:43

Thank you how long did you find it? Lasted.

I did think of a weighted blanket, but I'm really hoping it goes away. I really don't want a weighted blanket. I don't like that feeling.

i've had a horrible two nights where I just really couldn't sleep. I was almost in tears early this morning.

Could it be a thing that would be resolved by supplements? Electrolytes or something?

SquirrelandPanda · 11/11/2025 17:29

Magnesium supplements are recommended for restless legs. I take nutrition geeks ones.

RoundandSad · 11/11/2025 17:34

Thanks, I really hope it doesn't last
I have had this before from a different medication. and had to stop taking the medication I can't take magnesium. It upsets my stomach most things do I also tried the skin oil and that made me so horribly itchy. I nearly scratched my skin off.

Someone suggested an electrolyte drink. I mixed up one of my own last night or in the middle of the night, I should say I don't know if it helped

It's been a horrible couple of night so not sure what to do but I haven't had a chance to contact provider yet

Have you tried different magnesiums?

The magnesium we take as a supplement are salts & there are several different ones. Magnesium citrate & magnesium oxide are the ones known for upsetting stomachs (& cheap so often the default) but magnesium glycinate is great for sleep & not likely to upset your stomach. There are several others to try too, magnesium lactate is known for being gentle on stomachs.

RoundandSad · 11/11/2025 17:56

yes, I've tried different ones
I'm really really tired and achy, and I don't know if it's the medication or the lack of sleep I was so worried about side effects, but this one didn't occur to me. It didn't come up on any list.

Have you got anything heavy you can out across your legs? Maybe just a heavy folded blanket etc? Until my weighted blanket came I had like a heat pad that id bought for my back a while ago which I placed over my lower legs which did the trick. I don't think it lasted long though, when did you start? Maybe days, week or 2 at most and certainly not every night. Try all the usual things, staying really hydrated, what about tonic water which has quinine in which I know is good for leg cramps, not quite the same I know.

RoundandSad · 11/11/2025 18:07

I took it on Friday. I don't have anything heavy, but I'm a side sleeper and I can't imagine feeling comfortable with something heavy on.

so due another one on Friday. If this problem continues I will delay it I think it's a peak action at the moment.

I really hope is eases off, mine didn't last and I've been on it 18 months, and I'm now maintaining. It's awful though, I get how upsetting restless legs can be. I also elevate my feet slightly at night which ive done for years due to my fibromyalgia, just a cushion under my feet. I'm also a side sleeper. Maybe give it a try. Fingers crossed for you!

RoundandSad · 11/11/2025 18:29

Thank you Willowie
I'm also a side sleeper and it's just been horrible

I know it's only two nights, but I really understand people saying they want to cut their legs off I was like that with another medication I was supposed to be on and I couldn't take it especially now. I have a physical job and have to run around all day.

Forgot to say both nights it started as soon as I was sitting on the sofa

Alice In Wonderland Mustard GIF by Masterminds Connect

Try 4-6 Oz's of tonic water or a teaspoon of mustard before bed. Both work for me. The teaspoon of mustard about knocks your socks off. I think I forgot I had restless legs at that point. But it does work.

Lardybumbum · 11/11/2025 18:50

You may not be getting enough iron or folic acid in your diet - I get awful restless legs when I’m low on either (also just after my
period ends). I’ve had it since my 20s so can’t blame WLI

RoundandSad · 11/11/2025 20:17

I actually take both folic acid and iron

I probably take a lot of supplements and stupidly didnt think about the effect of this drug but everyone sats carry on as usual i wonder if i absorb them properly

I find that when I don't take my magnesium before bedtime I have issue with restless legs.

BerfyTigot · 13/11/2025 12:06

Ive had rls for about 30 years and it improved a bit with iron supplement but it has been terrible in last 2 weeks since increasing MJ dose 😭. Think im going to have to reduce dose again as I can't cope with the lack of sleep

RoundandSad · 13/11/2025 13:53

Really sorry to hear that how do you cope for so long

I'm taking my second jab tomorrow and dreading it

@RoundandSad sorry, only just seen this. Bizarrely I've had about 5 nights of better sleep.

As well as keeping on with taking magnesium glycinate and iron, I've been drinking half a mug of skimmed milk before bed. I've stopped caffeine after about 4.30pm (hard for me as I do love a brew and decaf doesn't cut it).

I'm also using a clarins cream for tired legs which I massage in vigorously. It makes the skin tingle a bit which helps me. I also use a hot pack on the leg I'm not sleeping on (side sleeper).

I've also been having a hot bath in the evening. Seems that heat helps me.

Really hope this is useful, wishing you lots of sleep!
