Going on a wl jab to lose a stone at 10 stone?

Sorry for goady title.

This year I naturally lost 40 pounds via diet and exercise. This is my normal pattern after pregnancy. I gain roughly 50 pounds. Manage to lose majority of it. But give up a stone away from my pre kid weight: I have pcos so weight loss is not easy. I’m just so over dieting. Do you think jabs would work for me? Say go on them for a couple of months?

I’m a 12 and would love to be back to my pre kids body.

No, you aren't obese so you'd have to lie to get them. Why would you do that? You don't have the barriers to losing weight that obese people have. Besides, when you come off them you'll probably gain the stone back again.

HansHolbein · 06/11/2025 13:18

What’s your BMI?

I have pcos and weight loss is a real struggle for me. Spent 2 years being over 200 pounds during Covid. You have no idea of my history.

If you can get a doctor to prescribe it, go for it. If you have to resort to either playing the system or obtaining it illegally, I would say no- both are incredibly dangerous.

Cladopeya · 06/11/2025 13:27

I have had to lose weight three times post babies. And I always give up around the 10 stone mark but I could definitely do with shifting another stone

You still have to diet I’m afraid, WLI don’t let you eat whatever you like and just melt the weight away!
Unless you are BMI 30 you won’t qualify for a legit private prescription and getting it from non licensed sources is very dangerous.

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 06/11/2025 13:30

But are you clinically obese at 10 stone? That’s the important thing, not that you want to try and regain a pre-baby body.

I get that. But I feel a weight loss aid would be very helpful. If my appetite and food noise is controlled I think I would be able to carry on with making better choices. I have reached diet fatigue.

It is unlikely you would be eligible as a new patient unless your BMI > 27 and you have weight related health conditions or are an ethnicity which is eligible at a lower BMI, or BMI > 30

Also, unfortunately, starting treatment for just 2 months is unlikely to give sustainable results and you will regain when you "give up" again. You might also find you don't respond to the medication at all until higher doses.

If you do decide to do further research on WLIs don't be tempted or take risks getting it from unregulated sources, your health is much more important.

PearlTeapot · 06/11/2025 13:39

You’ve not answered the question- what’s your bmi?

If it’s above 30 nobody can stop you.

2GreatFatSquirrels · 06/11/2025 13:41

If you can get it legitimately then yes it may work for you. I know people of this weight who have used it and had good weight loss. One of them was also plagued by vomiting for 4 straight weeks… but we can’t say if you’ll have side effects or not.

No then

2GreatFatSquirrels · 06/11/2025 13:45

If you’re muscular and a BMI 25 then you’re likely a healthy weight, check your waist to height ratio: Waist in cm / height in c. If it’s under 0.49 you’re healthy weight

PearlTeapot · 06/11/2025 13:45

Then…. no.

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 06/11/2025 13:45

So you’re not eligible for it under any circumstances? I’m sorry, in that case it’s a no from me. You can’t obtain it safely or legally, you don’t really seem to have thought about it longer term, people act like it’s the equivalent of Botox or filler, but it’s a prescription drug, with potential for real harm if not taken safely.

Reallynotsure25 · 06/11/2025 13:53

You won’t be prescribed WLI at that BMI. 2mths is also not long enough. Why bother? The WLIs also come with side effects including fairly serious ones like acute pancreatitis. You need to think of the risk benefit ratio. If you were obese or had obesity related conditions 💯 for it, but you don’t and would need to lie to get the meds. I say this as someone who is an advocate of these medications

theressomanytinafeysicouldbe · 06/11/2025 13:59

If you want it and can qualify to get it and are willing to pay for it then go for it.

But, when you stop taking it the food noise comes back and you do start to gain the weight

I lost 21kg, I have been off it 10 weeks and have gained 2kg even though I do not eat like I used to - I think I lost the weight because i couldn't eat on it. Still working on perfecting my diet and getting in more movement

Allmarbleslost · 06/11/2025 14:51

No pharmacy will prescribe it for you with a BMI of 25 op.

MeridaBrave · 06/11/2025 15:23

If you have PCOS would need a BMI over 27 to be able to get it. I think it would help but you’ve lost too much to be eligible now.

Abouttheauthor · 06/11/2025 16:06

Of course, get yourself on them, Dave from the gym could probably get you some reta, easy, even better than mounjaro, you could lose about 4stone easy.

Rumpledandcrumpled · 06/11/2025 16:23

The question you asked is would they work for you, the answer is probably, however the question you should have asked is am I eligible and rhe answer is no.
