Private prescription

I have a private prescription for Mounjaro from a medical specialist I am seeing for fatty liver. Does anyone know what the most cost effective way of getting it would be? Is it cheaper if you already have a prescription?

The cost is mainly for the medication itself which has a high list price. What are you paying at the moment for the medication?

I haven't started yet. Prescribed today.

Did they not give you any idea what the cost would be to get the prescription fulfilled from wherever they suggested you get the medication from?

Theres a website called Monj which is a price comparison for the online pharmacies that directly prescribe to people. https://monj.co.uk which would give you an idea of what people generally pay.

The doctor didn't make any suggestion about where to get it from. I mean I could go to any pharmacy and get it with the private prescription but perhaps that wouldn't be the cheapest option.

Probably not, as I would think they would charge you what they quote for people who get the prescription direct, and you’ve presumably already paid for the private consultant too. You can see the prices that high street/supermarket places like Asda, Boots, Lloyds, charge on the Monj site. You would need the retail price not the discounted price. Smaller local independent pharmacies might be cheaper, so you could try your local one of those and see.

Yes will shop around. The private consultant was covered by insurance as he's treating me for a medical condition. But then weirdly the treatment he thinks I should have isn't covered!
