Relationship WLI and calorie deficit

HI. Hope this isn’t the most silly question in the world, but do you think WLI help you lose weight regardless of calorie intake . I ask because you hear about people having a stall, and last month when I went up a dose, I don’t believe my calorie intake was lower - and yet I lost quite a few Kgs . Interested in hearing thoughts . Thanks

Not regardless of calorie intake - if you are not in a deficit then you won't be losing weight. Weight loss isn't linear on any kind of weight loss programme, so stalls and whooshes are common. Having said that, Mounjaro acts on the way your body responds to eating and can have a big impact on your blood sugar and how your body stores fat and uses fat. So it clearly helps your body be better at using the calories you're eating and the calories from stored fat. I don't know if that means that you would lose more weight than someone who ate the same but wasn't on Mounjaro. Probably?

I think it may have a very very tiny slight effect on metabolism but nothing significant enough to translate to a few kgs.

I don’t believe my calorie intake was lower - Unless you are weighing and measuring it is possible you have subconsciously reduced portion sizes, maybe not finishing off/taking less mayo on the side, or using less oil, less carbs, snacking less, less salt etc. Without hard facts it has difficult to tell as food recall is often unreliable (whether losing or gaining weight!)

Unless you have maybe unusually shifted more water weight at this stage from hitting a dose that controls your insulin sensitivity better, but I doubt that would translate to kgs either.

Who knows!

Could you have been more active or had inflammation such as illness or condition or water retention that was reduced? Or increased your water intake?

I wish I had increased my water intake ! I am a bit rubbish at drinking enough. Yes, it’s true that unless tracking calories and exercise I won’t know for sure.
