I have just placed my first order after months of deliberating.
Is there a guide on what I need to do? Or does anyone have any hints or tips?
For example, do I eat as I feel or should I calorie count? I hear protein it’s important, and drinking lots of water?
Should I stock up on any otc meds like for diarrhoea or heartburn? Paracetamol?

I didn't ever calorie count. I just ate according to my appetite, choosing protein first at each meal. If I didn't want to eat at all, I ate a small amount of protein (some chicken breast, some tinned tuna, a slice of steak) and some veggies. I stopped when I felt I wanted to stop. Some days I ate more, some less. I also drank a lot of water.
I lost 75 lbs in total, maintaining now for a year, following the same pattern of being attentive to my hunger.

My advice is give it some time. 2.5 does not work for everyone, but you may be lucky. As everyone says, you need to be in a calorie deficit. If you can do that without counting calories that’s great, otherwise use something like my fitness pal, which is free. Protein is important, and you should be hydrated, but I haven’t personally set myself any particular goals as far as water goes.
