I can't afford it for maintaining anymore. Ibhave several conditions inc Hashimotos and UAThyroid.

Everytime I stop MJ the weight just piles back on :(

I had my last injection 10 days ago and have not changed my eating habit AT ALL from being on MJ and Inhave gained 3.5lbs already.

3 times I have stopped and put on a stone and restarted again because I don't want to get big again.

And not once have I gone back to old ways. My body just eants to be fat :(

Ah, it must be frustrating for you to be in this position. Would it be worth considering trying Wegovy as it's cheaper and it may have some/all of the same benefits?

There's a guide to swapping on the Monj site:

I'm sorry, I feel the same, it's inflammation isn't it, I too have an autoimmune disease and it's helping me, I'm going to to go massively underweight I'm afraid, with the pens I've got then when I stop / run out I will have more wriggle room, I may also try maintenance with oushk who let you restart ad hoc, all not ideal and extremely unhealthy, if we could get this drug at a reasonable price this wouldn't be a problem, sending hugs

I have done that, I went to 9st this time to try and account for the gain but I just know it will happen.

Even the wegovy prices I can't afford anymore. Its not even like I eatvtakeaways/smoke or drink alcohol so I can 'save'on that to pay for jabs. I don't do any of it.

I'm currently heading towards 8 stone, and still losing, I'm spreading my injections to 8 days, I tried to swap to wegovy during the price hikes, but was too honest about my weight so got screened out, I'll maybe try again and lie this time, I prefer mj but it might be worth a try.

This is why Mounjaro is a tool to help you change your eating habits and not a solution by itself.

If only it was that simple...

NoTouch · 30/09/2025 16:24

Have you tried tapering down to the lower does and then stretching the pen out to 5-6 (perhaps 7 if you can find a provider that will support irregular buying on maintenance - most allow 6) weeks to reduce costs?

The lower doses may not give appetite suppression but might still work on the issues with inflammation and metabolism.

Oh, you’ve managed to stop Mounjaro and maintain weight loss with Hashimoto’s and an underactive thyroid? Well done!

Please, share your wisdom with the rest of the class!

Did you even read the OP?

There’s always one that comes on here and chats shit 😂

GAJLY · 30/09/2025 16:43

I keep reading how expensive it is now, but how much is it costing you? Is it possible to go on a lower dose once a week?

Iloveyoubut · 30/09/2025 16:53

This is what I always wonder. People say that often times weight gain is caused by emotional eating or comfort eating… no one eats a full tub of ice cream because they’re hungry right? So these inhe ruins obviously work on more than shore sing appetite or slowing transit times … sorry if I’m ignorant … I have looked into it but I feel we can’t blame over eating on not feeling full, being hungry or seeking comfort/ trauma anymore because these drugs seem to work on something else

How is it ‘eat less’ if the only thing that’s changed is stopping the drugs but the weight goes back on anyway? Honestly I despair at some people’s comprehension 🙄

we know that mounjaro does other things like reduces inflammation and the way the body deals with what’s being put into it. No advice OP but I feel for you

Okyou need to let all the regulatory authorities know. As they feel differently, hence why it’s approved for life and mitigates multiple metabolic issues. But if all your scientific research and qualifications means you know better, then please post that data for us to see,

ptherwise obvs folks will think you’re some random making up shite.

Leon is actually correct. Hate saying it as a diabetic but if a district nurse can make me face up to the truths if you like food you’ll just get diabetes back.

All people do by buying these medications privately is pee of a GP who then isn’t interested in their care. (yes I do mean the gp’s that aren’t on telly saying how unfair it is on their pt’s or whom are aware and won’t carry out any kind of check)

As for the deluded it is for life and they are always going to have a prescription, wait until your mmol levels drop due to the weight loss and clearly have no memory of when Saxenda went out of stock.

What on earth are you talking about. I’m not even sure your post makes grammatical sense.

My gp recommended it, the drugs are approved for weight loss, like many drugs they have multiple uses, and many of us who had a weight issue had other health issues, diabetes isn’t the only health condition you can get.

and who is deluded, I’m on it for weight loss, I’m now in maintenance, and like nearly everyone else buy it privately. There is no shortage.

SquishyGloopyBum · 05/10/2025 07:37

I’m sorry, it’s a life changing medication and should be accessible for someone with your conditions.

Is there anything at all you can cut out so you can afford it? You are worth the investment.

Best to ignore the stupidity which always pops up on WLI threads. Replying only encourages them.
