Just as the title says really, just wondering if anyone has managed to lose a significant amount of weight by staying on 2.5mg? Obviously with the price rises this is an attractive prospect!

I'm on Wegovy, not Monjourno but I'm on my 3rd pen on the lowest dose and about to hit 1.5 stone in weight loss. I have felt much hungrier than when I was on my first pen but still get fuller quicker. I figured I'd stay on the lowest for as long as possible.

chesschessandmorechess · 23/09/2025 07:39

I lost 3 stone 3lbs on 2.5. I went up to 5 for 1 week then back to 2.5 as the side effects didn't agree with me.
I started in November and came off in May when I reached my target.
Ive gained and lost the same 2lb since. I still calorie count, when I was taking MJ I stuck to 1200 calories and now I stick to 1400 a day. I use the Nutracheck app for counting.
I used the time on MJ to overhaul my diet and get into a more healthier mindset which has helped me maintain the weight loss.

Not sure what your definition is of significant, but I’ve lost 4 stone on 2.5mg over 8/9 months. I just never increased as I still have enough suppression but also aware of willpower and self control.

with the price increase I was really pleased I never increased, but also I’ve found it helpful when I took a couple of breaks for surgery and holidays. You’re just starting back on your usual dose.

for me, it all felt doable because of multiple changes I made in my eating habits too. Fasting 16:8. Good quality protein powder. In excess of 100g protein per day. I’ve no doubt that maybe I just got lucky not needing to increase doses, but I’d certainly recommend giving it a go for a few months at 2.5 and seeing how you go. Good luck!

I use this one https://www.willpowders.com/collections/protein-powder/products/milk-chocolate-protein-powder-500g
every day mixed in Fage Greek yogurt. I didn’t want anything overly processed or unnatural. It’s bone broth so be aware if you’re veggie! As a treat I sometimes mix in a teaspoon of peanut butter. Honestly, I’m not connected with the company but I consider this product as being key in suppressing cravings. My weak moment was always an afternoon coffee and a couple (read half a packet) of biccies to get me through til dinner and afternoon meetings. Started having this post lunch and never craved the biscuits again. I feel I will have this as my afternoon treat for life now, long after I’ve stopped the MJ

Almost 7 stone so far. All on 2.5mg. I just eat a normal balanced diet now. No protein shakes or powder (I find this stops me being able to eat proper food) yesterday looked like

B - halloumi and avocado muffin with chilli jam (Tesco cafe) and a cup of tea
L - homemade soup with veggies and ham
D - scampi and salad with a couple of small baby potatoes

I also ate 5 celebrations and had a skinny latte in Costa.

Ineedanewsofa · 23/09/2025 09:18

15kg in 11 weeks all on 2.5mg. Tracking food in MFP and sticking to 1200-1300 calories per day.
Still have an appetite, I was already eating a fairly healthy diet but eating far too much/massive portions because I never felt full. MJ stops me overeating and for the first time I know what it’s like to feel full after a ‘normal’ portion. It’s been game changing for me.
Going to stick with it as I’ve got another (potentially) 15kg to go but not in any rush

Fedupoftheshits · 23/09/2025 09:34

I’ve lost 2stone 2lbs only using 2.5mg of Mounjaro. Been on it since May and am 2 weeks away from finishing my last pen. I’ve had hardly any side effects and it’s worked really well for me.

TokenGinger · 23/09/2025 10:15

I’m 2st down since June on 2.5mg. I know it’s not quite as rapid as some, but I’m pleased with how it’s going.

Yellowsubmarine55 · 23/09/2025 10:45

I'm 4 stone down in 6 months and no interest in going up. I'm using it as a tool to overhaul my diet and life and eat relatively normally and how I want to eat going forward.

Somethingsnapped · 23/09/2025 11:03

I'm interested in this too. I hoped to stay on a low dose before I even started taking MJ. I'm only on my sixth dose of 2.5 ml, so can't really help in terms of background, but just wanted to offer solidarity!

I do get very hungry between meals at the moment, but it still doesn't feel urgent like it used to. If I do have a snack, I'm not craving crisps or sugar. I also get full on much smaller portions too. I have no unpleasant side effects currently, and I like having an appetite still. I also like the combination of using willpower with a good helping hand, not to mention the 'placebo' effect of having paid for the meds!

I'll be ordering 2.5 for my third pen too, fingers crossed.

WeAllHaveWings · 23/09/2025 11:55

Not quite 2.5mg - I moved to 3.75mg over a year ago and stuck there. Only moved up as a step up as I thought I had to, then it was still working much the same as 2.5mg so didn't want to jinx it and stayed there.

ime of Mounjaro there were two types of effects - initially suppression where I could forget to eat which I didn't like and thankfully wore of quickly, then there was the more subtle effect it had on my brain/appetite reducing food noise and obsessive cravings, helping me work with it to make better choices and helping with portion control when I ate mindfully.

I also find I can have days or weeks when some food noise does come back, but it is mostly short lived if I stay on track.

Both responses and expectations from the medication vary greatly from person to person.

Puddingpiper · 23/09/2025 13:27

i am at nearly 4 stone off and not gone about 3.75 I’m on week 26 did 8 weeks ish at 2.5

Flyingfruit · 23/09/2025 15:01

Oh you are my people! Everything you are saying is what I'm hoping for 🤣. I'm on the last week of my pen, have lost 15.5lb and I just love how I feel on mounjaro. I get hungry and look forward to good, but I get full quickly and when I am hungry I can ignore it. I don't have any inclination to binge. It's been life changing for the last 4 weeks and I have another 2.5 pen but what I would really like is to carry on at 2.5 and app your stories give me hope I can do that! I have about 6.5 stone to lose, so in it for the long haul!

Trimphones · 23/09/2025 16:40

I did 2.5 for 4 weeks lost about a stone ordered another and it stopped being effective halfway through second, went up to 3.75 for a couple of weeks then 5, lost 4 stone in 6 months, not all plain sailing, a few side effects of vomiting if I ate the wrong things and constipation, I do feel hungry between meals, but I eat completely different now to what I used to. I feel optimistic for coming off in the next couple of weeks.

JabbaJibba · 23/09/2025 20:04

6 months in and 4.5 stone down on 2.5. A couple of times I've considered going up to 3.75, but am just about to finish my 6th pen and all good.

Workingmum34 · 27/09/2025 13:08

I started at 15st 6 on 18th Jan and I’ve just weighed at 11st 3. I’ve never gone past 2.5 and more often than not just use half a dose. I also just bought some jeans in a size 10. I was pushing a 16+ before. It’s honestly changed my life.

MeridaBrave · 27/09/2025 14:01

I didn’t have loads to lose but have been on 2.5mg since July. I save money by using a 5mg pen.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 27/09/2025 14:42

I've done 11 weeks on 2.5mg and have lost about 2st9/16.9kg. Very very happy with it, no plans to move up any time soon, if I do it would probably be to shorten the time between doses rather than increase the dose, so jabbing every 5 days rather than every 7.

dizzyupthegirl86 · 28/09/2025 11:32

19 weeks in and have lost 36lbs all on 2.5mg. I have the occasional wobble when I suddenly feel hungry more than usual for a day or so but usually realise it’s coz I’ve not eaten enough of the right foods, or am due to get my period!
Like someone else has said, I think it’s allowing me to develop healthier habits and learn more about how I need to eat for the future, rather than just making me eat too few calories. Could I lose more if I went up a dose, maybe? But I don’t want to. My average weight loss is 1.9lbs a week and that feels a healthy amount to be losing.
There are other benefits too - I’ve not had to have any awkward conversations with people I don’t wanna tell as it’s a gradual loss rather than super dramatic. I don’t have any issues where I can’t eat spicy / rich foods like some people do on higher doses, and I can drink as well if I want to. I know a lot of people on higher doses can’t handle alcohol without it making them really unwell!

I am conscious that it may wane and I’ll probably need to go up a dose eventually, and that’s fine - but at the moment 2.5mg feels like ‘support’ for a healthier lifestyle rather than completely taking over my food choices.

How do you do this?

OP posts:
Sauvignonblanket · 02/10/2025 06:34

Yes - I lost about 18kg over about 6 months on 2.5, never felt the need to increase until then - it can be done

dizzyupthegirl86 · 02/10/2025 10:14

Flyingfruit · 02/10/2025 06:29

How do you do this?

I’d imagine they are taking half a dose for a longer period of time - so in theory the pen could last ten weeks. It does go against the 30 day guidance but a lot of people are happy to do that. From what I’ve read, it’s more to do with it not being tested for efficacy after 30 days, as opposed to doing anything dangerous but it’s still a decision you’d have to decide if you’re comfortable with!

SquishyGloopyBum · 02/10/2025 10:41

I’ve never gone above 5mg.

to get 2.5 out of a 5 pen you count clicks - so a full dose is 60 clicks, 2.5 is 30 clicks and 3.75 is 45 clicks. It does work out cheaper.

PeppiKoala · 02/10/2025 10:43

I was on 2.5mg for 3 months and lost 2 stone!
