I’ve been on WLIs for almost two years, all fine. But for the last few months I’ve started finding the injections painful and the fluid seems to bubble under the skin like this, forming a hard lump.

it goes after a while but does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

What is this?

Are you pinching the skin to inject? Perhaps try pinching, or not pinching, instead. Or are you angling the needle?

I think you are not injecting deeply enough into the subcutaneous layer, so it is pooling under the skin instead.

No pinching and at an angle - as recommended. Lump still there for now and quite sore

Where did you see an angle recommended? Not criticising, just wondering if it is in the official literature or just from reading online from others - something I am guilty of!

I personally inject straight at 90 degrees when using a 4-8mm needle tip. (12mm I might consider 45 degrees.)

It’s in the Superdrug guidance on how to inject @CatsorDogsrulebut maybe I’ll try no angle next week!

Angle and/or skin fold is suggested by Eli Lilly for 8mm needles and perhaps 6mm if very slim. Link below shows how to do a proper skin fold. I use 6mm and go in straight.

That’s interesting, I didn’t know about the angle. I’ve found the last couple of times I’ve used the needles on the pen, I’ve reacted - not a lump but a large red circle and it’s felt hot to touch for a few days. Yesterday I used a syringe and 12mm needle and all seems fine so far (always in my arm)
