Planning to start MJ soon.
I have over 3st to lose.
I’m wondering a few things:

  1. how quickly did you lose the first stone?
  2. What has it taught you about what you need to do differently when you come off injections?
  3. What was the most interesting thing you have learned about yourself and why you couldn’t lose weight before WLIs?
  4. How have you changed?
  5. What will be different when you reach target?
  6. Did you tell people you used WLIs?
  7. If not, did they ask?

I’d be really interested to hear your thoughts if you don’t mind sharing…

Thank you x

I took my first injection at the very end of October last year. I’m 40, 5’7, started at 16st 1 with a BMI of 35. I have insulin resistant PCOS. Just so background as weight loss generally happens quicker the more you have to lose!!

  1. how quickly did you lose the first stone? 3 weeks
  2. What has it taught you about what you need to do differently when you come off injections? Reduce carbs to once a day and I really don’t need many calories at all to maintain my weight!
  3. What was the most interesting thing you have learned about yourself and why you couldn’t lose weight before WLIs? I think the cravings that have been silenced by the WLI have been life changing for me. When I struggled to get calories in I really prioritised nutrition.
  4. How have you changed? I’m not sure I have changed but I’m enjoying new clothes.
  5. What will be different when you reach target? I’m at target now, I’m just a much healthier version of myself.
  6. Did you tell people you used WLIs? No. Not even dh knows.
  7. If not, did they ask? No has asked me directly.

i’m now 10st 4ish give or take, BMI 22.8 I think and currently without any MJ at all because I can’t fucking get hold of any.

  1. how quickly did you lose the first stone? About 8 weeks
  2. What has it taught you about what you need to do differently when you come off injections? I should ignore most of the calorie calculators for TDEE or go with the sedentary figure even though I am quite active.
  3. What was the most interesting thing you have learned about yourself and why you couldn’t lose weight before WLIs? I needed to eat less than I thought to lose weight and eating 1400/1200 calories a day was impossible without Mounjaro.
  4. How have you changed? I haven't as a person but I do feel pleased about the weight loss. I feel like I've turned the clock back 15 years.
  5. What will be different when you reach target? Not much, I'll carry on and possibly try to lose another half a stone.
  6. Did you tell people you used WLIs? Only close family.
  7. If not, did they ask? No- I did tell my SIL when she remarked that I was looking lean.

I’ve lost 5 stone and 3lbs.

TBH I don’t know how long I took to lose the first stone as the first week I saw a 4lb loss and a slight gain the next so I decided to not weigh every week to save getting disheartened.

i can tell you though , I started on October 28th at 16 stone 10and in the first week of January I changed supplier so had to weigh and was 15 stone 8 so a loss of 1 stone 2 in just over 2 months.

(Ive only just hit target, it took a further 7 months to lose the next 4 stone but I’ve had a life, we have been away a lot in our motorhome this summer etc so haven’t been on a perfect way of eating this summer as I was at the start of MJ)

2-I need to eat more protein and stay on multi vitamins. I’m also a lot more active and need to stay that way. I lift handheld weights watching TV.

3- I basically sound like most of Mumsnet here when I answer “eat less and move more” 🤣

4-I’m more active and confident. Also going from a size 20-22 to a 12-14 is lush. I’d have gone lower but I’m 53 and 5 foot 6. I think losing more would age me.

5-I’m at target, I’m still eating around the same and keeping an eye on the scales. Im about to start titration down from 10mg to 7.5 (from a 10 pen so if my appetite comes racing back I’ll take the last 2.5 as well.

6- told everyone who asked, very positive reactions. My workplace has many of us who are on Mounjaro and my progress has inspired some colleagues to go on it.

Hope that helps! All the best

I lost the first stone in a week.

I lost the next two in about 8 weeks.

I carried on and have now lost 8st in 21 months. I'm still losing, at a rate of 3lb a month, so it's really slowed down.

I started with a BMI of 50 and it's just under 30 now.

I didn't learn anything I didn't already know about why I was overweight.

I haven't told anyone apart from my family, about the WLI.

Imissgoldengrahams · 05/09/2025 15:24

I have lost 4 stone since March
It has taught me that I don't need all the snacks I was having (bored and lonely)
I found loosing weight difficult as I have an under active thyroid.
I have told people but nobody has ever asked

Onlyseeingitnow · 05/09/2025 15:31

I have lost weight lots of time before - and also quicker than on WLI. I started on April 1st and have lost exactly 3st.

The differences this time are around understanding ‘food noise’ and sticking to the weight loss for longer by using WLI.

I am just at goal and will now microdose for as long as I can afford it. I hope it works and I will also exercise and continue to keep up the eating regime that got me here. WLI are not a fat burner and I have done intermittent fasting and low carb.

Many anecdotal reports are coming in about WLI helping addiction / alcoholism - and I see my weight issues as a ‘substance abuse’ - the food noise, craving, compulsive and impulsive emotional eating followed by the regret and internal self hatred talk I assume are similar to other substance abuse dynamics.

Pre WLI any food treats in the house would be shouting at me from the cupboards and the fridge - I was preoccupied. The world outside your home is just as challenging as now there is tasty absolutely food everywhere presented and designed to be addictive (we used to call it ‘more-ish’ in the old days) - at least an alcoholic can avoid the pub - but we have to travel to work and use a lot of headspace avoiding the cakes/biscuits laid out at a meeting etc.

I am not going to beat myself up anymore that I am weak and failing when the global food industry has invested millions in scientists and marketeers to trigger my impulse.

Imagine if food had the same images on that cigarettes do - wasn’t allowed to be advertised etc…..

I have learnt that at each stone that I lost I had to then reduce my max cal intake via the TDEE calculator which was an eye opener (age, gender and activity related).

I feel really confident and have bought loads of new clothes. I feel really healthy and at almost 60 this is more about avoiding cancer, dementia, CVD, diabetes, mobility issues etc.

Go for it - you won’t know yourself by Xmas. I have proactively told my close friends. If anyone asked (they haven’t) I would ‘fess up - I am not ashamed that I have actively sought to improve my health and paid for it myself.

I saved money by using discount codes and accessing the bonus dose - so was only costing me £20/week (pre price rise). If anyone wants my code drop me a PM.

Think that’s all the Qs answered….

I started mid-May with over 40kg to lose and have lost ~17kg.

  1. 6-8 weeks
  2. Get into healthy habits! I stopped for a week and the food noise came back SO LOUD. I would advise food prepping to stop from reaching for instant-satisfaction snacks and prioritising protein and fibre for your calories. Build in exercise if possible and drink lots of water.
  3. That I wasn't just 'lazy' or 'greedy.' The change in how easy it was to be healthy and lose weight once the food noise switched off was life-changing. I really think some people are built different and it is so much harder for some than others.
  4. I feel so much better about myself. I didn't realise how much I felt I didn't deserve nice things because I was so overweight and how invisible I felt.
  5. I will be less self-conscious, more confident and feel more deserving of living life to the full and being happy. I will feel pretty and sexy again and be able to wear clothes I like and shop in high-street brands.
  6. Only my best friends.
  7. Nobody else has asked.

I have lost 3 stone 9 lbs since April,
I lost a stone in 3 weeks
It was up and down then, but I've never gone over a 5 dose
I've learnt that I don't need snacks, and to prioritise protein over carbs at mealtimes
I dread coming off, I was split dosing to make it affordable but this shit show recently has meant that I have had a gap in prescribing so would have to go down to 2.5 and I'm not prepared to pay for that.
I haven't told anyone I'm on it can't be arsed with the judgement.
I feel 100% better in mind and body, have only had fairly mild side effects, one bout of quite severe vomiting due to bad food choices, and constipation remedied with chia seeds.
I started purely for vanity reasons, but it's been beneficial for all sorts of other reasons, I would micro dose forever but not at the prices they are now. Too expensive for me. I was using a 10 pen split into smaller doses which I bought for 149, it made it affordable, using a 2.5 pen for 5 weeks is a lot more expensive, the 10 would last me 10 weeks takin 5 from it.
I am late fifties, was 12.6 when I started. 5ft4

GiveMeWordGames · 05/09/2025 16:16

I've lost 3st 8lbs since late March. I'm 5ft 8 and 53 and I started out at 17st 4 with a BMI of 36/7.

  1. how quickly did you lose the first stone? 4 weeks 4 days
  2. What has it taught you about what you need to do differently when you come off injections? Prioritise protein and high "satiety" foods
  3. What was the most interesting thing you have learned about yourself and why you couldn’t lose weight before WLIs? Hmm, I don't quite fit into this bracket as I've never really tried to lose weight until now. I've slowly gained over the last 25+ years since being slim in my late 20s but I loathe faddy diets and the whole concept of dieting. I realised my only chance at my age was probably the injections. I bought my first ever set of bathroom scales on the same day I got my first pen.
  4. How have you changed? I can walk fast again, my knees and other bits don't hurt any more. I feel like I have so much energy and I'm starting to love clothes again.
  5. What will be different when you reach target? Similar to what a pp said, I'll be someone I haven't physically been for 25 years. Still got 2 stone to go. Hopefully by Xmas!
  6. Did you tell people you used WLIs? Only DH
  7. If not, did they ask? At about 3 stone off my mum finally asked me about losing weight to make sure I wasn't dying of some wasting disease or something. 😆

We are obviously all different, if I lost ten stone I'd be skin and bone and seriously unwell so I guess it depends on the starting weight

Yes, cheers for that. I was very, very fat.

There are multiple long-running threads on this board for those of us on journeys to lose more than five or ten stone. I'm absolutely not denigrating anyone who needs to lose less but you don't need to spend long here to realise that relative to most of the long-term posters on this board, three stone is not 'a lot'. My post was a very gentle indication of that for the OP and my good luck wishes were sincere.

No sorry I wasn't trying to be a dick

To me, even a stone is a lot of weight loss
I didn't imagine I'd be able to lose a stone, and I've lost four which feels great

Ten or more is an incredible amount of weight loss and is genuinely inspiring

Don't focus on the weight loss. Focus on changing your habits. Food and exercise - focus on those.

MrsMiagi · 05/09/2025 18:22

About 2 months to lose a stone.

My BMR / TDEE are very very low so I will need to be so so careful. Will likely stay on a maintenance dose.

How sedentary i really am. Its not so much the WLI that highlighted this, but started wearing my smartwatch when I started WLI and was shocked. Been working all day and done 480 steps so far. Im shattered but will get on the walking pad later

I havent changed really. Im 4 stone lighter now but still a large stomach. Oh the hair loss has been horrific so that will need to change to hide it.

No idea lol. I need to move more but I didnt have to change anything to lose the weight. The WLI stopped me eating huge portions so it's been really easy.

best friends and husband. Had to tell husband in case of severe side effects but he is so so supportive.

Thanks for sharing. What was the food that made you vomit?

Is it possible to drink alcohol occasionally whilst on WLIs?
