I’m creating an imaginary list of all the lovely clothes I’ll buy when I get to my target weight. I’ve been hankering after these jeans from gussy and Lou and the firecracker jeans from free people. I will also be gutted when my all saints pink leather jacket gets too big. It fits beautifully at the moment, hopefully I’ll find one on vinted when I’m smaller unless they bring the colour back.

Whilst I could buy the jeans in my current size I’ll be limiting my spending to cheap shops till I drop a couple of sizes so this is a reminder for myself for (fingers crossed) early next year when I get to target.

Well I bought these in a size 8 and they actually look like they do on the model, instead of looking like an overstuffed settee, still can't believe I'm a size 8 from a fat blob, size 16,

I'd like some 50s vintage style high waisted, wide leg trousers.

I’m just buying bits on Vinted. Safe in the knowledge that if they are a bit tight I’ll get to them soon. Being able to buy clothes and enjoy them is my number one aim from all this. Instead of slumping about in a fatties t shirt

I’m going to swish about in a full length coat and high heeled knee-high boots. (In my mind’s eye I’m also going to grow taller and less likely to trip over the heels!).

@MaryBerrysFannyHammock ,you do you, I definitely don't judge anyone else, I was extremely uncomfortable with my weight and certainly did think of MYSELF as a fat blob, I'm glad I did, it gave me a kick up the backside to change.

I think that's an unhelpful and unkind comment. There are many people on here who have started at sizes much larger than a 16, and are probably feeling great that they have managed to get to a size 16 after a lot of hard work, so hearing that size (which isn't enormous) described as a fat blob, could probably be quite hurtful.

Can you recommend which sports leggings you wear? I’m looking for some decent quality ‘hold you in a bit’ leggings for working from home (and could do with compression due to some swelling still since my C section…). Thanks!

The poster was clearly speaking about how they felt about themselves at that size, she wasn’t saying everyone who is a 16 is a fat blob; and her feelings about herself are valid. Personally I looked terrible at a 16, as I was obese and I looked it. This doesn’t remotely mean I think any one else does, we all have different bodies, different shapes, different muscle composition. But we are allowed to express our own views on our appearance, and it is unkind to try to police that, or silence it.

I completely agree and feel the same, we should be able to speak freely about ourselves.
I started MJ at 42 an obese size 14-16 and prediabetic, and was accidentally asked when I was due by a staff member where I was working in my hospital. In fact I was looking 3 months pregnant at 18 and was told this by my mum! my whole family is an apple shaped and diabetic or prediabetic. I spent decades avoiding mirrors and not wanting to shop for clothes because I hated the way I looked in them and definitely felt fat!
We can be unhappy with our appearance and not take any notice or judge others at all. Someone who was bigger before, would be happy to be a size 16 but when you have been smaller than this, and a 16 is the biggest you have been, thats a different situation as you will compare against being thinner and the memories of that.
Another size 14-16 might look great because they are hourglass or pear shaped, which I've always envied! I was so unhappy and unhealthy and glad it pushed me to do something about it.
I'm now bmi 23.9 and actually enjoy clothes shopping now!

I recently ordered a dress from Aspigia in their end of season sale. I filled in their size guide questionnaire and it suggested a 14.
'Not bloody likely' thought I, but ordered it as suggested.
When I opened the parcel and held it up I almost laughed. There was absolutely no way I could fit into that slim fitted number.
I put it on any way, hardly expecting it to fit over my head, but it slipped on easily and looked absolutely bloody fantastic!

Previously, Whenever we went out I used to dread choosing what to wear, and selecting anything that hid my curves and made me look as invisible as possible.
I have now demanded that DH and I go out every week so I can wear my new dress!! When I catch a glimpse of myself in window reflections/mirrors, I still do a double take...... who is that 'normal' slim person with my head on it! It's ME!!!

I have always exercised, but the past few years, I was wearing baggy gym trousers and a loose fit t-shirt. My dream was to wear tight shorts and a small top and feel confident in them, not thinking about holding in my big belly all the time.
And now I can.

@MagnoliaTreePetals that was so nice to read. I’m so happy for you. My sister was saying similar with finding it hard to get her head around fitting into smaller things.

i’m loving these stories, it really helps keep me motivated. Im a size 16 at the moment but looking so much better than I used to. I’m happy so far with my losses but only half way. There is so much more choice In a size 16 as most stores sell 16’s but I have a wardrobe full of that already and I’ve just been through it to remove all the clothes that are too big for me. I have nothing in a 14 so I will have to buy some new clothes when I get there. Hopefully not too long as a few years ago I was on the cusp of a 14 and was about 0.5stone lighter than I am now.

Fat is fine. Fat blob isn’t.

I highly recommend vinted for buying clothes on the way down! Warning, you can get a little addicted.
