BMI 25 - anyone been able to get WLI’s?

Not looking for any abuse over my question - I have a BMI of around 25 but have an underactive thyroid and BED which makes it impossible for me to lose weight and my MH is really suffering as a result. I’m extremely unhappy and it all stems from my weight and eating habits.

has anyone been able to find a prescriber who’s willing to support them despite only falling into the ‘overweight’ category? Happy to pay, I know it wouldn’t be possible to get it from an online pharmacy without lying about my weight which I don’t want to do.

please no advice about exercise and calorie deficit - of course I have tried this

It’s not possible at the moment. Has to be 27 at least with certain conditions, however you go about it.

Does your GP know about the BED? If they do, you may be rejected on that basis alone even if you met the BMI criteria. If they don’t know, don’t mention it - just in case things change with the criteria.

I’m sorry you’re struggling. It’s very hard. The criteria may change in the future, I really hope it does to be honest. It will help so many people.

I know a lot of people are buying it and sharing the doses, so if you knew someone eligible they could get it and yous go halves on the price and dose? May need to buy some extra needles on amazon too. Not a popular opinion, but a large portion of people do this x

If you want a legal approach to this, then I think the only possibility is to find a private doctor that specialises in weight loss, and persuade them to prescribe to you. They would need to be prepared to prescribe this medication to you against the prescribing guidelines, which they can do as "off label" if they are convinced that it is medically justified in your specific circumstances.

However, as you are not even overweight, and you have an eating disorder I would hope that no doctor would be persuaded to prescribe to you. Unfortunately there does always seem to be someone who will consider these sorts of things, if the money is right.

Have you looked into berberine? It works for many but some say not. I've purchased it in liquid form to start using soon as I am tapering down from WLI and the hunger is returning. Its meant to help to suppress appetite and lower blood sugars. I've read some good results on reviews and forums.
As a prediabetic, ill try to adopt what I can before coming off.
I do also find the high protein, low carb route helps with good cravings and better losses.
The cut off for starting WLI is 27 for ethnic minorities and qualifying health conditions, 25 is considered top end of normal so won't qualify.

As per a PP, a private weight loss clinic would probably prescribe, if you have the cash.

Think you will need to see a private weight loss clinic who will be able to prescribe MJ
