Light hearted goods, bad and/or uglies of post Mounjaro life

A light hearted attempt for people to share what they've noticed in life after Mounjaro.

In no way do I want this to be a maintenance thread because we already have great threads for that.

Anyhow symptoms I've noticed

Goods
Enioying food again, properly
Eyes are whiter
Maintaining a regular weight is a relief rather than wanting to lose more weight
No planning food around jab days
ADHD is back to normal (medicated already so Mounjaro made me off balance)
More interest in life again

Bads
More negative feelings coming back. Mounjaro really dampened that a lot.
It took a little while for my blood sugars to feel normal again. And I'd go from not hungry to hangry fairly quickly. It's back to normal now.
I went through a stage of sweating after warm meals for breakfast but that's fortunately stopped.
Thought I'd be less tired now but I'm not
IBS and arthritis also back

Anyone else?

Ooh watching with interest. I'm enjoying my life on MJ and don't ever want to come off but I think I'm going to have to because of the price increases 😭

Mysticmaiden · 26/08/2025 11:09

OP how much did you lose and did you hit a normal bmi?
I ask because I'm tapering down from 15, now at 12mg and I'm at bmi 24.0. I have no ibs symptoms on MJ and I would suffer a lot especially when stressed before it. I was also prediabetic and I feel all those symptoms have settled down but dreading coming off it but hoping the weight loss may have healed me. I definitely want to come off as I've been exhausted on MJ from the start. Started exercising yesterday HIIT workout to tone up first time in since January when I went on a yoga retreat and I feel better.

For me coming down, enjoying feeling hunger again, food tastes better, actually finishing a meal. lm still on a high dose so I know this will get even better.

Nomoretopswithblacktrousers · 27/08/2025 08:58

@Mysticmaiden I only went down to a 27.x BMI. I don't think any further weight loss would help IBS. I've not noticed an improvement.
My diet was actually fairly healthy before. I just ate too much. Perhaps that's 1 reason symptoms haven't changed. 🤷‍♂️

Yes how the price increases were handled is what's really put me off long term use. I have to say all in all things are much easier than I expected they'd be.

Would love to know if anyone found their asthma better on Mounjaro in hindsight. I can only guess it's down to the reduced inflammation. 🤷‍♂️

more interest in life again

I am still on it and will be until at least Christmas I would say, possibly beyond, but I am looking forward to the above when I come off! I'm kind of watching life in black and white at the minute.

Well described! Hope the colour comes back to you early next year then.

I also realised I didn't cry once whilst on Mounjaro.

Have now been off Mounjaro about 2 months. Have eaten so well with little effort. It's a great feeling and not one I expected.

More interest in life again is interesting - are people noticing a bit of a dulling effect on MJ?

JustPinkFinch · 31/08/2025 11:10

I am. Struggling to find joy in much at all and I am only on 2.5mg. I don't enjoy eating at all now, it brings me no pleasure whatsoever. No endorphins/pleasure from exercise either. My favourite thing (pre MJ) was gardening and even that now feels like an extremely dull past time! 4 months ago I found it joyous 😁

No history of depression I should add.

But even as dull as the above sounds, the benefits of weightloss and long term health mean I am going to put up with it until I get to goal. Mounjaro is an amazing drug, physically I am in the best shape for years, but I will not go above 2.5mg as the flatness got much worse along with dreadful fatigue when I went to just 3mg.

I think I am probably a 'super responder'. Generally when I see people complaining about the above, it's on much higher doses. So if you're thinking about starting, don't let my post put you off. But do be cautious if you have a history of depression is my advice.

Nomoretopswithblacktrousers · 31/08/2025 11:16

Losing interest in things seems to be a pretty common side effect. I'm glad it's gone, that's for sure sure!

@Nomoretopswithblacktrousers how quickly did your 'joie de vivre' take to bounce back once you stopped?

And do you mind me asking how old you are and if you're a woman?

Nomoretopswithblacktrousers · 31/08/2025 11:23

@JustPinkFinch I ended up dropping my dose to about 1.6mg every 5 days. Like I was very sensitive to Mounjaro.

Wow that's interesting - I've been on it since Jan but also menopausal and would have assumed any flatness would have been more related to that than MJ. Will look out for it.

I'm 4.5 stone down and while I'm at many people's start weight (sz 16, very occasionally 14) I think that's enough for me given my age and history (I don't think I was even a 14 at 14 😊) so have started to try and gently titrate down. My highest dose was 6 a week and I've now stretched that to 10 days 3 or 4 times.

Although I'm far from off MJ, I definitely see differences especially in the last 3-5 days before taking the next dose!

Good - bowel movements go back to normal for those few days!
Bad - compulsion to overeat definitely back (I would never have described it as food noise but almost an overwhelming compulsion - mostly in the evening. Starts as soon as I have finished dinner and an absolute craving for something sweet. I don't think it's habit, as I'd genuinely forgot about it for 6 or 7 months and now it's back.)
Ugly - separate from the 'compulsion', the hunger over the past few days has been off the hook.

My plan is to go back to weekly 5s for a few weeks and see if I can titrate down from there (but still weekly rather than stretching it out).

Interesting that people have mentioned low mood on MJ .I have definitely noticed that I feel very low 2_3 days after my jab ! Admittedly life has been very stressful but I feel my emotional response has been effected more so .

Yes I'm female. I'm middle aged. I am at the post menopause stage of life, after surgery though.

Started to feel better after about 2 weeks, properly better after 3.5 weeks.

How stupid. I'm sure I typed I'm 52! Predictive text beats me again!!

Now that is interesting! I have mild asthma but haven't needed to use my blue inhaler for over a year ( about the same amount of time I've been on MJ)

RufustheFactualReindeer · 31/08/2025 18:10

I haven’t noticed much apart from the obvious lack of hunger and cravings but on the back of this thread i tested my blood pressure

in 2021 when i was diagnosed with high blood pressure it was 185+, with medication and for the last few years its been high 140’s,

today it was 122, so its obviously made a difference

Thanks for replying! It'll be interesting to see what happens when you come off. Weight loss is supposed to help asthma but if you had the improvement from the beginning, there could be a connection...

Gosh really sad to read about peoples low mood, and surprised, I’m the opposite, I’m bursting with energy and happiness,

I’m now in maintenance, 6.5 stone down, staying on 5mg, was on 10mg, and get my dopamine hits from vinted, lovely new clothes, and my endorphins from the gym most days, I feel fantastic as my sleep apnea is gone and I sleep a solid eight hours , my blood pressure is normal, I’ve so much energy and food noise doesn’t consume me, and I like my appearance again, looking like shit and dressing to hide the fat really did bring me down.. But I never got my dopamine hit from food, and I still enjoy eating and cooking I just consume less and it is not important to me more than a passing thought.

I hope everyone who feels low finds their mood recovering, that sounds really such a sad thing to happen, x
