Hello! I did my first injection on Monday. And have been so sick this morning and I realised that I actually don’t know what I’m doing! What and when I should be eating, how to deal with side effects, vitamins etc that are good to take. I have been so focused on the injections I have done no research / preparation.

Can anyone reccomend any good books / insta people / website that I can look at? Or give me me their plans for the first few weeks?

Your pharmacy will have sent you emails with advice, or have some on their website, I'd have thought? Or look at one of the ones that do. Asda Online Doctor have lots of good articles that are freely available. Here's one about side effects:

https://onlinedoctor.asda.com/uk/mounjaro-side-effects.html

(Presuming you are on Mounjaro?) There is some helpful advice about nausea and sickness at the bottom of the article.

You don't need any special vitamins. I have always taken a decent multivitamin and I just continue to do that.

Can you just Google? Loads of info available. Lots of threads on here too

Thank you and yes MJ. I have done the Google but want really want is an easy step by step guide / meal plan. Good tip on the large supermarkets. I am doing it through a local pharmacy amd will ask them as well.

Food Noise by Jack Mosley is a pretty good book for a newbie.
What the jabs are, how they work, what to eat, what not to eat, how to prevent/help side effects.
(My only disagreement is towards the end when he talks about severely restricting calories. He is a diabetes specialist so he is geared towards reversing type 2 diabetes. I have lost 5 stone on Mounjaro without counting calories)

In the meantime I recommend you eat small meals made up of protein and vegetables. drink lots of water, take a multivitamin and perhaps psyllium capsules to prevent constipation!

Hope you feel better soon.

@ladygin What do you mean by ‘so sick this morning’ are you actually being sick? Or just feeling sick?
Most sickness is related to either what you have eaten or that you’ve not eaten enough.
Most usual advice is to avoid very fatty food, or very spicy, lots of people report things like pizza causing sickness.
Try to eat little and often, eat high protein good quality food, Greek yoghurt, eggs, Salmon, chicken, vegetables, beans and pulses, there’s loads of info out there on high protein food/meals.
Drink lots of water all day long.
If you can’t eat, drink your calories with shakes etc.
For any gastro issues I highly recommend Pepto Bismal, it really does work, it smells like Germolene, but if you hold your nose whilst taking it, it tastes ok, slightly minty.
Im sorry you’ve had bad side effects so quickly, hopefully they won’t last long and your body will get used to the medication. Don’t be tempted to move up too quickly, just take it slowly and give your body time to adjust.
Does your provider give advice? Many have information on their websites, or you could contact them to ask, although currently most are rather snowed under due to price rise issues.
I’d also suggest joining a thread on here for new starters there’s usually one for most months, you will then have more direct contact with others on the same journey as you, I think there currently an August 25 one running.
Hope you feel better soon.

@MagnoliaTreePetals thank you so useful xxx @Itscoldouthere yes physically sick, headaches (but that could be caffeine withdrawal from my Diet Coke habit), anxiety, indegestion and nausea. And thank you for the tips. This gives me a plan for the next few days while i get myself more sorted and educated x

@ladygin Try and drink lots of fluid and take it easy, I’ve only been sick twice in over a year and it only lasted a day, so hopefully you will feel better soon, try to eat a bit when you feel better, some people early on in taking MJ, get that sick feeling like morning sickness (if you’ve had that), it’s tempting to just not eat, but eating something small usually helps.

I would drop the caffeine more slowly. You body is getting using to the WLI, you're asking a lot of it to give up caffeine at the same time. Just cut down every day and it's much less painful.
Eat little and often even if you don't feel hungry. Choose healthy, low fat food and this will help with the nausea and sickness.
Also, in the beginning go easy on the protein. You'll see lots of recommendations for large quantities of it but if you're not used to it, your body won't tolerate it very well. Introduce more gradually until you're at the level you want to be.
