Forcing myself to eat

I started in July on 2.5 and took my first 5 mg shot on Friday. Since then I have had to force myself to eat anything. Yesterday I ate a cup of homemade vegetable soup, a slice of non buttered bread and a banana. The day before I had a few bites of rice, some cheese and crackers and an apple.
I am tired and know I need to eat more, but I am just not hungry. No other side effects.
has anyone else experienced this ? I hope that once my body gets used to once my body gets used to it, I will feel better and want to eat, but would love to hear positive stories from others.
thanks

This really worries me I know the injections improve health by reducing weight which causes problems but if you can’t eat on them then surely it’s going to cause deficiencies / make you malnourished which short and long term can bring about their own issues ? I want to try them I keep thinking about it but then I get anxiety will I be swapping one set of health issues for another? Is everyone struggling this much to eat ? I’m just thinking is it swapping one naturally induced form of disordered (over) eating for a medically induced form of (under) eating ? But I really need to lose weight and nothing else so far has worked 😭

How did you get on with 2.5 mg? Maybe 5mg is too much for you and next dose you should go back down to 2.5mg.

On the days you really don’t feel like you can eat, the advice is to drink calories - get some good quality protein shakes and definitely keep going with the 2l of water. Make sure you’re also taking multi vits.

I’ve been on 5mg for 3 months and haven’t felt any need to move up. I rarely get physically hungry so I just eat three small protein based meals a day and drink lots of water. I don’t feel sick or nauseous, it’s more that I can go 6 or 7 hours without a meal and suddenly remember I’ve not had lunch. Such a weird sensation but likewise this isn’t about starving myself so I always have a small healthy meal even if I don’t feel like it.

Why did you go up to 5mg? I suggest you go back to 2.5 or 3.75 next week. You should not be having to force yourself to eat.

Morning, it sounds like you are having a strong response to the 5mg. I’ve had the same to 7.5mg. It does get better but do keep an eye on it, and maybe talk to your pharmacist about it if it hasn’t improved by the time you are due to inject again. Perhaps the step up to 5mg was too much. I did 3.75 then 5mg and something similar to get to 7.5mg and even though I’ve been on 7.5 for a couple of months now, I couldn’t eat lunch or diner yesterday as I had an omelette for breakfast.

on days when I can’t eat I try to focus on nutrition over calories and eat little and often, drink a lot more water because a lot of our fluids comes from our food.

Thanks, I think I will drop back to 2.5 and see how it goes, I wasn’t eating a lot, just 3 small meals a day, which is obviously much healthier.
at 5, I have lost the taste for alcohol, which is good for me, hopefully that side effect will last!

It sounds like you didn’t need to move up from 2.5mg yet. Always stay on the lowest effective dose for you and if your prescriber pressures you to move up (or worse, moves you up automatically) then take your business elsewhere.

Are you just not hungry or actually struggling to get food down?
I find a lot of days I'm not hungry at all so I do a daily food plan, work out my calories and then make sure I eat it.
Smoothies or soups can really help as well as I find them easier to eat.

I can't stand protein shakes, but have developed a great fondness for chocolate milk on the days when I don't want to eat much.

Look at what you are eating and listen to what your inner skinny person wants - maybe you've gone off what you usually like. I was a complete carb monster, with a particular penchant for bread and bread products. Now I don't want them at all, and instead prefer really fresh salads (particularly with unfashionable iceberg lettuce) with chicken or salmon.
