Anyone swapped from Mounjaro to Wegovy?

I’ve reached my target weight loss of 5 stone after exactly year on Mounjaro. I feel amazing. I have no
aches in my joints at all and I am
simply moving around and sleeping so much better. As with everyone else, the hefty price increases are worrying me a great deal. My next order I was planning the steady titration down (on 15mg) but I’ve already had a warning email from MedExpress explaining the price increases.

wegovy is cheaper but I have no idea if I can swap, or if I’ll even qualify now that I’m 9 stone. Is it the same preparation?

alternatively is it cheaper to buy a vial and syringes? Avoiding the pen? Is this doable?

i know we’re all in the same boat here. It’s saddening.

I think this is a really worrying problem @JamPotJenny. You’ve lost. You’re prepared to reduce but aren’t allowed to maintain. This promotes yo-yo ‘dieting’ situation which isn’t good for the body. Much better to maintain and stay healthy. So many don’t understand that it’s not gluttony etc, fundamental inability to lose/not gain for many reasons mean that no access to the drugs will mean weight gain. It’s really sad.

JamPotJenny · 21/08/2025 07:59

Thanks @LadyGAgain, that’s exactly it. It doesn’t feel right to just stop after spending 12 months on a treatment that I’ve followed diligently and responsibly. It took months of slowly upping the dosage and I honestly thought I could expect to withdraw slowly and sensibly whilst I maintain.

My BMi is at 23 now after years of 30+!! An email from MedExpress explained that they won’t prescribe WLI to anyone under 23.5 so I guess that’s it for me.

I don’t understand how anyone stays on a maintenance dose long term unless they’re just short of their goal weight of
course, perhaps.

I hope my increased activity and healthier eating habits will sustain me (although I fear I’ve knackered my knee and hip whilst running my 5k’s - that’s something I must see my GP about).

Good luck to everyone.

Wegovy is meant to be cheaper but doesn't have the fifth dose so does it really work out cheaper?

I've titrated down MJ a bit as I was on a high dose and I want to get all I can out of my last pens.

I hadn't noticed the side effects so much and how it is helping me cutting down, nausea mainly. Less diarrhoea. maybe stopping or changing to a low dose of wegovy is a good plan for me as I am not far off my goal weight.

You make a good point.
Could it be down to availability? Was Ozempic the WLI of choice in the US and there was simply more availability for Mounjaro in the UK?

I’m happy to try Wegovy - chance would be a fine thing! I have one golden dose left of my Mounjaro pen and that me done. I’m uneasy with simply stopping.

No company seems prepared to assist me, despite not being quite at my agreed target. I’m not after higher doses or even equivalent doses - I want to start dropping. Despite what they say about maintenance, there doesn’t seem to be anyone to help.

You could try Voy, they have an offer on wegovy and are quite helpful.

I've read lots of posts saying Oushk pharmacy is very good for supporting maintenance

I would book to see a physiotherapist or oesteopath first and see what they can offer you to help with your knee and hip? I am sure you can book a private appointment.

I haven’t read all your posts so apologies but I’m with Oushk on maintenance with a lower bmi than you so try them?

Falseknock · 22/08/2025 14:51

Depending on your age I would still see a doctor if you are a older woman going through menopause. In case you need checks and scans etc.

Med express are one of the outliers, many pharmacies now support maintenance, most down to 21, and they don’t cut you off just support you. Med express just bin you off. Try monj,co.uk for some of them,
