I’m due to start and I’ve stocked up on vitamins, magnesium, pepto bismal, clear whey etc etc.
Im also thinking of doing a food box delivery for the first month like Mindful chef so that meals for the family are planned out in case I just can’t face food planning. Did anyone else do this or think it’s a good idea or maybe not necessary? I’d be interested in other people’s ideas or opinions!

Absolutely nothing 😂

In fact I had so little faith in it working, I stocked up on snacks for work when the sandwich van came round as normal, the morning of my first injection. 2 hours after taking it I realised I felt full and I hadn’t eaten anything. My desire to eat junk food and fizzy drinks had completely vanished and all I ate that day was the salad from my sandwich!

I did have some pretty bad constipation the second week but other than that it’s been an entirely pleasant experience 😊

Also worth getting yourself a shot tracking app - there’s Shotsy, which you pay for but it’s nicely designed or Glapp, which is free and works straight from the web. I didn’t track calories myself, but if you plan to, MyFitnessPal is a great choice.

Cliffedge25 · 12/08/2025 18:54

I read up everything I could to educate myself.

Stocked up on healthy foods,

Signed back into MyFitnessPal and then got excited thinking about how much better I was going to feel, how hopefully I can come off my prescription medications that I have to take because I am fat, excited about the comfort and smart clothing I will at last be able to wear.

Looking forward to getting my bloods in a normal range, looking forward to no more back pain.,

First jab taken and I was as sick as a dog, horrendous diarrhoea, headache for 3 days that refused to shift and nausea that came and went randomly.
These symptoms have gradually lessened thank goodness. 2nd jab due on Friday.. let’s hope I don’t have those symptoms again.

This felt very different to every single thing I have tried and failed over the last 25 years. I have so much hope..

The main and best thing I did was to track everything I ate and drank for the month before I started - not calories or macros, just a list. I had incredibly chaotic eating habits - either huge portions with loads of snacks, or skipping meals and then grazing too much. I wanted to really see what my eating looked like, so that when I started MJ I could reshape the 'good' parts of my favourite foods into more structured approaches.

To help with that, I also got a semi-regular Gousto box - really useful to actually see what a certain amount of calories and protein looks like, and not to have to think about meal prep.

I'm also really happy now that I was already doing weights training and yoga when I went on MJ as it meant I could keep up with building muscle and tone.

The rest - electrolytes, clear whey, supplements, etc etc, came later on.

I guess all of this is about seeing MJ as a tool - a way to reset and build new habits. Best of luck!

rocket74 · 13/08/2025 00:12

I started my gym ‘reset’ programme beforehand.
No high processed seed oils
no added sugar - fructose/glucose/corn syrup etc
no high processed foods - bread, pasta etc
this rules out pretty much all ready, processed, formed, shaped, diet, low fat foods.
Use butter, ghee, olive oil for cooking.
Cook from scratch - base ingredients.
Full fat Greek yogurt etc - no artificial fillers or sweeteners.
Move more. Sleep more. Meditate.

I lost weight and felt so much better even before starting Monjouro.
Now I’m doing both and have lost 12kg in 9 weeks. Including 2 holidays and alcohol !

Fasting 8pm - 1pm. Not sure if it's helped but I'm counting on it to maintain.

Weirdly it was easy pre injections and I lost 9lbs but I'd sometimes miss lunch by accident and feel sick and dizzy. Monj has shown that I'm neither sick or dizzy at all. It's psychological and all I need is water and some fruit. I can actually cope without eating for 16 hours. I will neither starve or die in that time.

On the days I did have breakfast it was from the kind of small bowl you serve nibbles / nuts in. So I'm sure it's not over 30g as that plus milk would overflow.

I'm hoping that's going to be key in coming off. I did before and there I know I can do it again.

Please be careful with this, it is one of the causes of gallstones, it is better to eat small amounts and regularly. Gallstones are not caused by the drug but by being overweight or losing weight rapidly and it’s been shown that fasting can be a signficant enabler , especially with slowed digestion,

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 13/08/2025 07:34

My provider suggests small amounts and regularly too. For me 3 regular meals (but smaller) has worked well. I am trying to ensure I still get nutrition in on days I'm not so hungry and starting with protein breakfast, small lunch and fmaily evening meal is working well here.

I know some people find only eating once a day helpful and that's fab if it's worked for them but it wouldn't have worked for me. I prefer to space my food out rather than boom and bust and there's no medal for not eating. In fact for many people that can tie in with disordered eating patterns so I'd be wary of recommending it to all.

glucagal · 13/08/2025 07:44

I used to enjoy fasting, did OMAD or a very short eating window eg 20:4 and pre perimenopausal weight gain, it was effective for me to keep my weight in check.

I could not use it while on Mounjaro, I just can’t get enough nutrition in at once due to slowed digestion, little and more often has become essential or I would be way too low on calories.

Although I don’t evening snack at all now breakfast around 8 and dinner before 6, so I guess I’m doing 14:10 ish most days without thinking about it.

if I do come off MJ I will likely try 16:8 or so as a tool for maintenance.
