Drinking alcohol all day

I have a wedding in a few weeks time and I am part of the bridal party so there will be fizz flowing from morning till night.
does anyone have any tips or experience of how this worked on WLI?
did it lower your suppression? Did it make you feel bad?
I feel like I might have a few glasses of wine as a practice a few weeks before! But I don’t drink much usually apart from occasions or events like this

It gives me the worst acid reflux and sickness. And stomach pains.

GiveMeWordGames · 11/08/2025 10:16

I've generally not had much desire to drink since I started and have generally stuck to 1-2 glasses of wine when I have.

My cautionary tale is that I did have one evening early in Summer where the weather gave me the urge to do my old thing of sitting out in the garden and slowly working my way through a bottle of fizz. So I did just that. Then saw it all again in the early hours of the morning. On the plus side, no calories gained. 🙄

Everyone's different though and you could be fine. Rather than practise drinking (unless you want to test what might happen!!) I would develop the fine art of 'sipping' but not actually drinking. People really don't notice and you can nurse your way through much less booze than everyone else.

I ended up feeling really full with sulphur burps and when I kept going I was sick. Just pay attention to how you feel and if you haven't or don't drink much I would do as other post says and just sip throughout the day

lifeisgoodrightnow · 11/08/2025 10:19

Tons of ice in a glass helps

MsPug · 11/08/2025 10:21

Two large glasses absolute maximum. Like pp say when you've seen it all again (on two or three occasions because you're a slow learner) it does take away the urge somewhat 🤭🤣

Weightlosstimeforgood · 11/08/2025 10:25

Thanks for the tips
slow and steady it is.
was thinking of trying to choose a still alternative rather than Prosecco too as was worried about the reflux.

I literally had 2 mouthfuls of wine at the weekend and felt horrible. really sick and have decided to just leave it alone and drink alcohol free beer in future. I never was a heavy drinker just very occasionally but knocking it on the head untill I stop the jabs.

KeepUndercover · 11/08/2025 10:29

I have found if I drink I feel the effects faster and feel way worse the next day. So be very careful as you might find you get very drunk on a quantity that previously would have been fine. I would have some sparkling water on hand that you can top your glass up with rather than trying to keep up with others. If anyone asks why tell them you want to keep a clear head so you can deal with any issues through the day. Can't have the whole bridal party smashed!

GiantTeddyIsTired · 11/08/2025 10:32

White wine gives me heartburn, and where previously I could have a whole bottle over the course of an afternoon/evening, now if I have more than one (small) glass I feel rough (or fall asleep).

So prepare to be unable to drink very much at all - I certainly wouldn't worry about drinking and busting the diet!

Weightlosstimeforgood · 11/08/2025 10:33

Here’s me thinking I’d have a few wines and binge eat my way through the canopies and wedding cake!

In your situation I wouldn’t and not because of the WLI just because it’s not something you normally do and only seem to be considering it because you feel it’s the done thing. Just have a couple spaced out and soft drinks in between.

Overtheatlantic · 11/08/2025 10:53

Why don’t you bring a couple of bottles of No-secco? I’m not sure about the taste though.

CanIGoHomeNowPlease · 11/08/2025 10:58

There are some nice non alcoholic versions out there. But I'd say the reality of the day will be very different to what to you envision.

I've been in the bridal party plenty of times and whilst the fizz was there, you're all too busy rushing about getting everything sorted and getting ready.

I'd be more worried about making sure you eat and drink well so that you last the day!

Tonic Water and iced tea and mint water are your friends.
Drink from a stem glass or tumbler.

MrsSkylerWhite · 11/08/2025 11:03

Just don’t! On WLI or not. You’ll look back and deeply regret it.
You're a bridesmaid with a job to do. Good hearty protein breakfast and save the champagne for dinner.

HappyWineDay · 11/08/2025 11:15

I've found that since being on the WLIs I actually drink far slower than I used to. I was recently at the races with a group of friends and I just found that when they were topping up all their wine glasses, mine was still three quarters full. So I just naturally didn't drink very much and it wasn't a problem and didn't become an issue. No one noticed or mentioned anything.
