I’m 52 and have been on MJ since April. I’ve had slow, steady weigh loss and think I’ve been looking after myself but my hair is really really dry. It’s not so much the hair loss that is the problem but the dryness is really noticeable to me at least. Obviously I guess menopause etc plays its part but I’m guessing it’s mostly MJ.

I’ve started using a hair mask etc but if I don’t wash every day it’s almost impossible to get a brush through. It’s probably shoulder length and has always been wavy/slightly curly.

I’m enjoying being thinner (still 14 stone 7lbs) but hair is a mess. I also swim so the chlorine probably doesn’t help.

Is anyone else having issues and what are you doing?

I’m not sure how mounjaro could make your hair dry, that would be poor nutrition, I’d get a decent moisturiser,

I honestly think my nutrition is pretty good. I’m not having many carbs but eat plenty of fish, chicken, vegetables, eggs etc and pretty much no processed food. I’m drinking lots of water too. I’m using good conditioner but unless it’s just menopause I’m not sure what else to do. It was honestly fine before the MJ so that’s why I’m wondering but could be coincidental.

Generally what causes dry hair is obvs using poor shampoo and conditioner, over brushing of over washing, colouring, heat styling etc, but also thyroid issues, or low calcium levels.

I use a natural shampoo and conditioner now so no sulphites and wash it maybe every 4 days. This has helped my changes. Is it collagen that helps with skin and hair?? Maybe worth a decent supplement as think it’s the oestrogen dropping that loses us our youthful glow!!!

I’ve been using Routine Wellness shampoo & conditioner it’s amazing for dry, thin hair

FoxRedPuppy · 07/08/2025 15:25

I wash my hair every 4 days because I have naturally quite dry hair. Over washing can make it dry. As can menopause.

can you use conditioner to comb it through rather than washing?

Also recommend at satin/silk pillowcase or even bonnet. It’s stops the tangles.

How about healthy fats like avocado, nuts, omega 3 capsules?

Menopause related?

TheChosenTwo · 09/08/2025 08:09

I wash mine every 3-4 days, it’s not colour treated but I’m probably overdue a trim and it’s looking a bit dry and crispy at the ends.
i only brush it when it’s wet after washing, never when it’s dry inbetween washes as its wavy/curly and would just turn into a giant frizz ball if I did.
not sure what to suggest really, it could be any number of things causing it meaning it’s hard to know what will help.

Thanks everyone. I do have the healthy fats, avocado’s, oily fish etc but maybe I need more supplements. I’ll check out the shampoo:conditioner recommendations too.
