Bruising

I've been using MJ since September 2024, but have only recently been taking the fifth dose, using medical grade syringes. I've taken the fifth dose twice, and each time I have bruised really badly and the bruise takes weeks to go away.
Has anyone else experienced this, or does anyone have any tips as to how to avoid it? I don't know if it is harmful, but it is not very pleasant.

It's possible that the batch of needles you've got aren't sharp enough - that would cause bruising. Are you using a longer needle for the 5th dose? Maybe try a different size and/or brand.

Thanks IsItSnowing. I'm using syringes from UKmedi, 32G 8mm 1 ml. These are the ones I have seen recommended on this forum. Several have been too floppy to go into the pen. Perhaps I have a bad batch.

I think that sometimes if you use one syringe to extract the dose then inject, the needle is a bit blunt, I’ve had a few times where it’s been a bit painful getting it in to my skin.
I’ve recently bought lure locker type syringes where you can change the needle between extracting and taking the dose, not used it yet but will do next week.

SilenceInside · 26/07/2025 10:18

How is the needle too floppy? Or is the syringe that’s bending?

I also have the Luer Lock type syringes so that I can use one needle to extract and then change the needle to inject. That way you know it hasn’t been blunted.

Not referring to MJ specifically but injecting in general
I would suggest buying thinner needles 0.5 maximum
Technique wise “ pinch and pull” the skin/ muscle before injection
while the bruises heal you can use any site IM( tummy arm bum)

SilenceInside · 26/07/2025 10:34

@uncomfortablydumb60 thinner needles than 32g? What gauge are you referring to when you say “0.5”? Mounjaro injections are subcutaneous not intramuscular. You don’t need to “pinch and pull” before injecting when doing a subcutaneous injection like Mounjaro or Wegovy.

I mean that it wasn't as rigid as the normal needles used to take doses 1-4. One needle actually bent when I was putting in the pen. I am going to check out the luer lock syringes.

I have been taking MJ for quite a while (pre Christmas), never had any bruising until the last 2 doses. This was with the usual needles supplied with the pen (so not a 5th dose or anything). No idea why! Yes, I am a lot slimmer, but still have a decent amount of stomach to inject into.

PearlsPearl · 28/07/2025 13:23

I bruised on my 5th dose with that needle you're using too. And it hurt a little bit, and I had to literally shove it in as it seemed blunt. Thanks to @SilenceInside I've ordered lock luer syringes (where you use one needle to draw the liquid, then a new needle to inject) so I'm hopeful the next one will be more successful!

These syringes and these needles.
